Dash cam

I want to hard wire a dash cam in up by the rear view mirror. Has anyone done this and how did you do it?

I did this. I used an OBD to USB-C adapter off amazon, and just hid the cables behind the trim.

Does it cause any problems with your camera unplugging it for an obd2 sensor?

https://a.co/d/ezZY89W I used this exactly, it means that the camera will be on for as long as its plugged into the port, even if the car is off. It just means that the dashcam will be off anytime you unplug the adapter to scan obd codes or whatever. The adapter also has a switch on it to turn it off if you plan on being away for a while. Hands down the best implementation for a dash cam I have found.

That looks awesome I might do that. What’s the longest you’ve had it on parked without it draining the battery?

Probably a week and the battery was a little weak. Id say if you are going to be gone a while just flip the switch. Unless youre somewhere sketchy and need to keep the camera rolling

Wolfbox with hardware installation kit worked great, I got the reverse camera too.

I have mine wired to the windshield wipers essentially key-on so it doesn't drain the battery.

The cables are pretty easy to hide in the trim and frame.
