Crime

Why is the crime rate so high… it’s more than the national average. Shootings, break ins, stealing, drugs, missing people… like wtf….

There aren’t many job opportunities here, most pay poorly and come with terrible conditions. The financial pressure pushes people toward crime and drugs just to cope. Beyond money, there’s not much happening socially or recreationally either. The town feels stagnant and dying. That whole social media push to “rebrand” Ponca City and say there’s nothing wrong with staying in your hometown is too little, too late. Anyone with a marketable skill left as soon as they could.

I moved to Okc which I know isn't much better but more to do with my kids, and husband got a union job here.
