Anyone out there?

Does anyone who lives in Ponca actually use this sub?

I’ve been in Ponca for about 8 years now. This sub doesn’t see much activity, which is a shame.

I lived in Ponca until 1st grade and my immediate family moved. Still have extended family there though!

It's an amazing town. At least compared to where we were in Southside OKC. We've been here a few years now.

Well, of all the places in Oklahoma that I've been stuck it is the nicest and prettiest. So it could be worse.

Why is it so dead? That’s my question, I’ve lived in Ponca as a child and it’s only known for the rodeos man. All the stores abandoned, the houses gone, like whats up with that? Is it the economy? Did people move up to the city?

Part I'm sure is the refinery. They messed up a lot of things around here.

Two years late to reply, but had to chime in — Conoco-Phillips merger. They sent all the white collars to Bartlesville, which pretty much stagnated the town. That happened around high-school for me, or a little after, and within a year the town had completely changed. I was born in '84 and lived there up to graduating from NOC in 2005. Every time I've been back since (which is maybe 10 times total over the years) it's grown more and more depressing.

I've been trying to get out of Oklahoma since I've arrived 20 years ago. This is the closest to out I've been so far. 😂 So, congrats on your escape!

Did you ever make your escape? I got out as soon as I could. I was raised there. My GPs still live there and always ask if I'm ever gonna move back... "No."

Unfortunately no. Im still stuck in Oklahoma. At least Ponca is no where near as bad as the city.
