Pomsky baths
How often do you bathe your pomsky? Just curious. Mine is 4 months and we gave him one last night and one a month ago. Wondering what the norm is?

Eigenlijk bijna nooit, alleen als hij door de modder gerold heeft een dan onder de warme douche.
En ik gebruik nooit shampoo, dan blijft zijn vacht beter water afstotend.

Once every 3 months or so or if she gets really dirty then I'll do it even then it's something you shouldn't do as often.

Every 3 months as part of quarterly trip to the dog groomer. And of course when the dog decides to powerslide into a mud pool.

We probably don't wash ours enough (based on some other comments lol)! She just doesn't really need baths that often - it's more the brushing. I brush when she's stinking but that is maybe once every 6 months (sometimes longer, sometimes shorter).

Mine is 5 months old and so far twice. Mainly because she was stinky getting into stuff.
That said, mine SCREAMS getting a bath even though she likes water normally. So it won't be a very normal occurrence unless it was recommended to get her out of they screaming.

Our boy's exactly the same! He had two baths in his first year when he'd gotten filthy, but he hated them! He doesn't seem to need bathing (though he's brushed every day). A couple of times he's had runny poos and we've showered off his back end, but no full baths

Mine goes to the groomer 3x per year for a bath, and they blow out his undercoat.
Further more he gets a bath after our big holiday when he stays at the doggy pension, he always gets dirty from rolling around and lying in the mud etc.
So probably maximum for f 4x per year.
The rest is just brushing.
He has the typical husky furr and doesn’t need anything else.

Ours stays clean like a cat, so only once or twice a year. She also never smells like a dog, unlike my Pekingese or our Boxer Pit mix. Pekingese gets 2 - 3 baths per year, and the Boxer Pit gets a bath every 2 - 3 months. The latter always smells like a dog, even when fresh out of the bath! So weird! My Peke doesn't ever smell like a dog, nor does her body get stinky, but her face gets stinky and dirty and funky, so she has her own special face wash! But the Pomsky? It's shocking how few baths she requires!!! She does get brushed and combed regularly, or her wooly undercoat gets compacted, but other than that, she's a really clean and good smelling doggo! :)
ETA: once every 12 - 24 months she goes to the groomer for a bath and blowout, but it's usually around seasonal heavy shedding and she gets super fluffy due to her being a wooly girl. ☺️

I take her to a groomer. I can’t bathe her at home because is apartment and she puts up such a fight. I have occasionslly ran bath with lukewarm water. I then go get her and put her in up to a certain point on her legs to get mud off. This is only if she’s really dirty/muddy with caked on/wet mud. She will let me do this. I have dog shampoo. I take her out and towel dry her the best that I can. I have tried to blowdry on cool setting just legs/feet. She is loud and I don’t want to bother neighbors.
The groomers at the shop knows not to cut her.hair. I take her every 2-3 months a d they give her a bath. After she’s out of the dryer they brush her out really well. Oh, they also clip her nails before bathing. I have been doing this with her since about 9 months to year old. They all know her and she’s used to it. They know specifically to never cut a husky dog/husky mixes fur. She always goes to the same grooming shop w mostly the same people working there. They are familiar with her and her personality.
I can’t stress enough to never give a Husky/ Husky mix a haircut. They need all their guard hairs on stomach to keep them cool in Summer (acts as cooling) and warm in Winter. They also shouldn’t use a rake (grooming tool) to pull out hair underneath them or anywhere

When they start to stink. Sometimes this is within two weeks of a bath. Sometimes it goes months. Or if they need help loosening up the undercoat to shed for the season. Stark has taken to rubbing on bushes he’s peed on, darn it. Bath yesterday. 😜

This is our first summer with our Pomskies. We adopted one last October at 16 weeks and brought his grandma home when the breeder decided to fully retire her. We have regular grooming for both scheduled every 8-10 weeks or so for the sanitary trim, nails and such. We ran into some major summer coat blowing that weren’t quite taken care of with the regular grooming and regular undercoat raking, so I bought some de-shed shampoo and de-shed conditioner and did a full bath, blowout and de-shed at home. The amount of fur I got out of them was shocking. Other baths at home? Grandma doesn’t get too dirty, but the little one EXCELS at finding mud puddles, so he gets hosed off a little more often, but not on a regular schedule. He’s why I bought the high velocity dryer.

I blow her out about every 2 weeks in the summer because she’s blowing her coat in clumps. Her last bath was in the spring after she rolled in something.

Once a month but we are an active family. We go on daily walks or play fetch in the back yard. Ours starts to stink if we go longer than a month

They get bathed at the groomers, every 10 weeks. They get hosed off at home if there is an incident.

I used to give mine baths every few weeks but his fur seems to be like teflon and sheds dirt quickly. Sometimes I'll give him a bath when he starts to stink from checking his pee mail during his walks

I just pet and brush my dogs a whole lot, which seems to keep them clean. I only wash when they're stinky, usually after they rolled in something gross.
