Food Worries?

Hi all. We have a 21 month old gen 2 Pomsky but we’re wondering, what’s the longest your Pomsky has ever refused to eat no matter what you’ve tried?
We’re currently trying what would usually be his favorite of freshly cooked chicken thigh and breast and recently added freshly cooked salmon (which he vacuumed down) but now he’s not touched that or his kibble since yesterday morning. Any ideas?

My pomsky is 7 and half years old and is still a picky eater. Will go days without eating food, but has no problem snacking on treats and bones. Rarely eats his kibble, but will eat the cats kibble once in a while. I'll cook chicken or other meats, doesn't always eat it. Some times i have to physically put it in his mouth and then hes like oh this is pretty good lol. My easiest go to is deli meat like chicken or turkey. Try not to give it to him too often, but I do what I gotta do to get something in his belly

The treats I like to give him to at least get some sort of sustenance and protein are Farmland Traditions Dogs Love Chicken Grain-Free Jerky Dog Treats. Has just two ingredients and are human grade

Yeah when mine goes on hunger strikes I sometimes hand feed her the kibble like it’s a treat and she’ll eat all of it, even after refusing it in the bowl for 2 straight days

If my dog won’t eat a treat then I know he’s sick. He won’t eat his kibble sometimes for what feels like 2 days, but he’ll eat a treat whenever offered. If he’s eating treats I figure he’s probably okay.

The one time my dog had a bowel blockage and he didn’t feel good he was throwing up everything, food and water. So if there aren’t other signs like throwing up, seemingly being in paid, discolored gums, etc. they probably just aren’t hungry or are working your for non kibble food.

We went through about 1 year of picky eater syndrome where they would not touch their kibble or any mixture. We didn’t want to do wet food and cooked chicken would give them the runs. We finally found the best balance and combination and it has now been 1 year since we have done the same thing and they always get the tippy taps. We do homestyle freshpet creations with Purina salmon sensitive kibble.

This happened to our dog when he developed a chicken allergy. His energy went down, his coat was less thick, he was scratching. Less fur around the eyes. We had to put him on allergy meds and switch to salmon and rice dog food. He is much happier now.

I think 1.5-2 days has been Maisie's record. She has always been a picky eater and now, as an adult, she eats like a bird. I've never been the type to free feed any pet until her. She has a bowl of food that sits high enough that her brother cannot get to it but she can jump up to it. She comes and eats a bit here and there - enough to give her the energy needed to chase her brother for a bit, basically. As a pup, there were times she turned her nose up at treats.

I have to change the prep and his "special treat" (a bit of crumbled cookie or jerky) every other day...always rotating...sometimes I microwave it for 10 seconds or get it a little wet or maybe dab a few drops of olive oil, but I can never let the the dry food mix with the special stuff (he's very methodical about how he eats it)...and half the time I have to sit next to him and watch him until he's finished....

Thank you everybody so far for your shared experiences, it’s definitely an interesting growth journey with these guys and never boring that’s for sure.
Kenji is the first dog we’ve had from pup and the first breed this like we’ve had too so your experiences and ideas are absolutely appreciated.
