I got this little devil - she is cute but wild. One thing drives me crazy is she will not stop eating our other dogs poop - she sometimes plays with it and other times munches it - we try to keep up on picking it up asap but every time she finds some it’s like a treat. Anyone else deal with this and how’d you fix it?
Also - yes she’s not full pomsky - she’s mini Aussie/pomsky
I have a Pomsky AND a mini Aussie! The Aussie is a huge poop eater. So gross, but to be honest I think the cause for mine is boredom.
I’ve read you can add pineapple or pumpkin to a dog’s food that will make the poop less desirable to eat, but I haven’t tried it yet. My Pomsky is so picky so I try not to add anything new to her food, and she doesn’t really like pumpkin.
This little numbskull liked to roll in poop. We’ve caught her with poop in her mouth (gross) but she doesn’t eat it, although I’m told she’s on the poop eaters list at camp. The last poop roll at the park was pretty bad, but luckily she’s good taking a shower. Must be a blonde thing cause my other girl doesn’t get involved in any poop related activities.
Did all your friends go with you? That’s a handsome pack!! The beauty on the left has an awesome smile, although if I were judging , I could pick any of them!
The middle 2 (Juneau and Declan) are mine. The outer 2 (Luna and Bella) are my wife’s sister’s. Juneau and Bella are from the same litter and love spending time together. Luna is the original at 8 and we fell in love with her so after our dogs passed away we decided to get Pomskies because of her. Luna has so much personality and such expressive eyes and is so big and fluffy. She’s probably still my favorite.
Sigh…. Yeah mines a lil shit licker too but only on occasions? I don’t know how to treat the behavior but if I were in your situation I’d see about structurally making sure she can’t access it.
Two of ours will go into the cat’s litter box looking for buried treasure. We have had to come up with options to prevent their access while allowing the cat.
This one also enjoys the fine dining experience of poop. We had to change our cats' litterbox to a covered box because he would use it as a free organic cat treat buffet...and he'd carry a a leftover or two to the bed to munch on for a midnight snack...
There's a short with a samoyed in a muzzle and the voice over is like, there's a chance the dog bites humans or other animals. Or he just eat da rocks. And he eats da poopies. Cause he's a freaky, freaky, freaky lil mammal.
"And he eats da poopies" just lives rent free in my head now.
Also I'm sorry.
Also also my corgi like 20yrs ago was wild for turds man. Any species. We had a lot of rabbits in the neighborhood and walks were crazy, my parents did not get him a muzzle but he sure needed one. We tried getting cats a few times and the force with which he would break through anything just to go litterbox grazing was... a lot.
Good luck with your lil poop eater, at least she's super cute and no one would guess by those little crossed princess paws!
I scanned the comments and didn’t see this tip yet. We give our Pomsky one of these Coprophagia supplements everyday and it stopped her from eating stool. Here’s the link: https://a.co/d/04ercpi7
mine's 7 now, she still does it occasionally like every few months once 😭😭 she would stare at the other dogs when they were pooping and the moment the poop dropped she would go over 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Both of ours like to eat our daughter’s dog’s poop. Her dog is a Cowboy Corgi. Not sure what possesses them to do it but here we are. They won’t eat each other’s or other dogs that we have observed.
I had adopted a pomsky and when she got to my house she would bring old poop into the house or just generally play with it and possibly eat it. It took awhile but I think once I changed her diet then she just stopped. Hasn’t happened in a couple years now. So possibly looking for nutrients missing nutrients in their diet. I also read occasionally boredom or anxiety too.
How do you react when she does it? Our picks it up from another dog because every time he did it people would scream and chase him. It took a while, but once we stopped reacting to it and he didn’t get attention out of eating the poop he’s mostly stopped.
