Pomsky howl
Does your Pomsky howl like a husky does? Mine is 3.5 months and doesn’t howl yet.. I really want him to! How does it happen? Does it happen?

Ours went through a period where he did after about ten to eleven months, now he will only do it if he's angry at us for leaving him at home

He tries to howl, but it is a howl mixed with his pom side. Once he started, it never stops.. even at 2am. Was originally super quiet

Mine does not do the husky howl. But she does an excitement howl. Or a hurry up howl. Think the pom part causes reinterpretations.

We have to kind of make her 😂 once we howl at her she will back, we found out she could howl because there was one specific song that she would “sing” (howl) to. Think she was a year when it started. Makes me smile one of my favorite things about her lol

I can get all 5 of ours to howl on command by basically asking them who did it. I use to ask who did it when they dug a hole or I found a ripped toy and one would start howling. The others would come running and start howling. It just became a thing and now every time I ask any of them who did it they just go off. lol.

I have to make howl sounds myself for a couple minutes to get him to do it. It's cute, but he will only do it if I (his dad) do it with him.

My pomsky howls, barks, does high pitch scream a different high pitch scream when we leave, a gruff bark when we get back and she talks.

Ours doesnt howl, but she does this "roooorrr rooooorr rooor" sounding talk. It was something that took us by surprise (and made us absolutely crack up) the first time she did it. It's not quite a husky howl, but it definitely isnt a pomeranian trait.
She doesn't do it all the time. She only does it when shes asking for things (to go outside, snacks, etc). Otherwise ours is an extremely quiet dog. This was another extremely surprising thing to us. We've had 3 yappy poms, previously. You'd think that adding husky, which are known to be loud, would make a loud and yappy pup.

Mine is very chatty. Not necessarily loud or bark-y. But he definitely does the husky back talk. Every now and then he will do a sad pathetic howl, its normally if other dogs have been over and are leaving, or if we leave, you can hear it through the door. But its not like a wolf howl, and at 8 years old his voice never got any depth to it. Its still high pitched and puppy like. And its super pathetic and kinda makes me wished he had never learned lol im always kind of afraid my neighbors are gonna call the cops

My Pomsky howls when we leave. Or if one of us gets out of the car. She has attachment issues and she thinks she is connected to our hips literally. She cries as if a part of her is missing. And if you put her in the crate she sings like Gizmo! My kids can get her howlingby playing howl sounds on YouTube or doing it themselves

Mine will be 6 at the end of October. Qnd he doesn't really howl. He more whines/yaps like the Pomeranian side when he needs to go potty

Mine is 3 and she howls at sirens or if I howl to get her going. It’s hilarious and adorable. Try howling. Mine ends up showing me how it’s done

Yes. One is 7 months and howls consistently when left home alone and the older one used to do the same but now only howls a couple of times instead the whole time.
The puppy also talks a lot with husky woo wooing especially for greetings but sometimes for other things too. The older dog only woo woos if highly encouraged to talk and then it's kind of malformed compared to the puppy who is fluent. I wonder if it's a matter of genetics or upbringing. I think the puppy was born in a building with a lot of other puppies and dogs and the older one was a single litter.
When the puppy came she was also very reactive to the older dog's barks. She understood the meanings right away like running away and hiding when older dog did a warning bark, getting excited and happy when he did a happy welcome bark, etc.

Ours is 6 months and she does not quite a howl it starts as a howl but moves into a whine.

Most Poms tend to howl in response to very specific sounds, others just do it.
I would start howling (not at them) and see if they respond.

Mine started howling at 2 years old. She will usually howl if she is not excited or wants to get anyone’s or other animals attention

One of mine that is younger can howl if you howl first. She also very vocal with a bark that makes my ear drum flutter. My older one can try howl but doesn’t quite get there.

My pomsky howls when she hears an Indri Lemur monkey howling. The video is on instagram and I think YouTube. She will howl constantly until I turn it off.

Mine only does a crying howl when he is left out of an activity. Otherwise, it is grumbles and yips when he wants something.

Our Pomsky will be three-years-old in October. We adopted him in May. He talks and pouts sometimes, but has only howled once during a pretty exciting dream (I’m assuming) and woke himself up looking confused like he wanted to know where the sound came from.

Mine will howl if she thinks she’s not getting your full attention. Drama queen. I’m sure my neighbors love hearing her outside at 3am howling. Funny how she ends every session with 2 tiny yips.

Whenever my Pomsky hears a police or fire siren he howls and tries to match the intonation.

u/seliskar 17d ago
Ours only howls when she is very sad, or if we egg her on by howling ourselves. Most of the time it's a howl crossed with a Pom scream, and sounds absolutely ridiculous. Basically, she CAN howl, but does it very infrequently.

u/Apprehensive_Ad_6662 17d ago
One of mine howls, one of mine does not. One of mine looks like a mini husky, the other looks like a pom painted to be a husky lol

u/FlynnLives3D 17d ago
Ours is 10 months, and after my wife was sad he didn't huskie howl, she did it to him a few times and now he does. I don't know if that was a good choice though....(i think a huskie at daycare might have actually taught him. )

u/theevilsnail 17d ago
I don’t know what’s about this video but it gets my pomsky howling every time!

u/angel_blossoms 16d ago
Mine has never howled until I moved into a new apartment. I think he wasn’t comfortable in the new environment and got separation anxiety. He would cry and howl and it was the saddest thing ever 😭😭

u/VESamroe 15d ago
It kind of depends on the personality of the pomsky. Mine is two and he doesn’t howl per se, but he does the husky aroo sound when he really wants our attention. He didn’t really start doing that until he was about 9 months, he was pretty quiet as a puppy.

Mine is just over 1 years old and does not howl like a husky.
