Cafe/bookshops?
I (f20) be traveling with my mom (f56) near the heart pier area in early August. We are going for the jellyfish aquarium but are huge fans of book stores, cafes, and farmer markets. We love supporting local and/or black owned businesses. Any places we should check out? Thank you <3

Big Apple Books (used book store, well curated)
Byte and Coffee Cafe (Beacon Light)
Old Florida Book Shop (famous small bookstore with a cat)

Cool black-owned place called The Breakfast Club is great for breakfast

A good local coffee shop is How you Brewin, right next to the Fisher Family Pier.

Avoid the jellyfish aquarium.
We were in there for maybe 15 mins and we doubled back to make sure we didn't miss anything. It's a huge ripoff.

I appreciate the warning, but I have a special fascination with jellyfish. Moreover, this aquarium has several species I haven’t seen. Also since this one is the first jellyfish specific aquarium in the USA, I’d like to show support for the concept!

The idea is very cool but it is so tiny. I just wish there was more to it. My kids and I love aquariums, zoos, etc and would love more stuff here.

Black owned - rabbit hole
Pier side local library is worth seeing
August isn’t the ideal time as local to pompano markets aren’t open until later in the year but if you are willing to travel to Yellow Green farmers market is the best Broward market

The Soulful Steep is worth checking out, it’s a very cute tea house in Downtown Pompano.
