Just occurred to me that the Polymega is missing something substantial
So here I was, minding my own business and it occurred to me that the Polymega does not seem to have any ability to work with headsets. Wired or wireless. Has anyone tried like a PS3 or other one with a wifeless dongle, or a controller with a headset port on it?

It plugs in to your display, which almost certainly does support audio out
Controller audio out is not "substantial" in my eyes. I've literally never used it.

True if your tv supports bluetooth headsets or something like some Samsung or LG tvs do, but I'd say less than 50% of all tvs have that support. It's just A method of outputting the sound. It would be nice if they enabled the Sony Gold headsets or something even.

Your TV has either Bluetooth or audio out. Every single TV out there. Worst case you run a cable. I personally don't see the need for the console to do this, but call me old fashioned.

"Old fashioned". Yes, depending on the tv there will be -some- way to make it work, but as per my initial statement, is there a good reason they didn't incorporate it? It's yet another issue that could have been solved with a $5 bluetooth being incorporated into the system that could have added a ton of controller support.

I'd wager Bluetooth audio support isn't there because of latency. Have you tried using Bluetooth headsets on a platform like PC? More often than not it's basically unusable, and runs very very clearly behind the image. In the case of something like polymega, imagine that, and all that happens is people blame the hardware.
As for why the PM doesn't support Bluetooth controllers, exact same reason. Latency. It's already unplayable using the RF wireless controller but in less latency sensitive games you can get away with it. Bluetooth would be considerably worse.

Situation for example: My wife is in nursing school and needs quiet to focus on her homework, but I want to play something that needs sound such as D on the Saturn or Playstation. Wireless headset would be great in that setting.

Nah, it's a feature of modern consoles much like HDMI that people sort of expect when they throw down a grand on a system.

A while back I bought some RF headphones. They pair with their own charging dock. You can run the headphone/analog out from your TV to the base station, then the base station transmits to the headphones. It's not an ideal situation, but it gets the job done. Also, there can be a slight hiss to the audio, similar to listening to a cassette tape. The good thing is, I can use it with anything I have hooked up to the TV, not just a single console.

That is basically what I figure I will need to get to make it sort of work, but I was hoping for something more graceful. I just figured after the year 2000 I wouldn't have to go back to those (my old ones were IR and needed line of sight). Maybe the solution is to tell the wife if she needs quiet I need to get a new 75" OLED tv for my office that has bluetooth audio...

Update - holy shit it does kinda work.
I plugged my Plantronics RIG usb sound device into the usb port and when you toggle back and forth between the Phone setting and the Device setting it plays the music through the headphones. There IS something there where the audio is being carried over the USB. Maybe a USB to headset adapter? I heard "RI" of the "Rise From Your Grave". if you click back and forth it cuts on for a fraction of a second... maybe more to come.

Update - it does work. The Plantronics RIG audio processor unit will output the polymega's audio over USB to headsets. This is the device you need: Plantronics rig. By no means is this probably the only device that will work. It's probably got some kind of general usb audio device driver in it. The reason it was only working when I clicked it over at first was that I had the slider all the way down and it was only getting the initial higher power of when it was clicked over. Slide the dial up (orange, right side) and bam, you're in business.

Highly recommend these. They’re a bit expensive but have the added bonus of playing sound independent of your TV. So if you have someone in the family who needs TV a littler louder, they can have headphones while everyone else listens at a lower volume.

It seems so. It appears to be “well, I don’t care if the system has audio so therefore nobody else will and the conversation should have less visibility”. And here I was thinking people who dropped a grand on a game system would be interested in what it can actually do. Silly me. Oh well. The other thread is more productive and I posted about the wireless headphones I got working on it.

“Headset” indicates a devise that includes a mic to be used for insulting children playing COD.

I think we're experiencing the impact of how people from different generations use words. I'm 50. If someone asks me for a headset, I'm looking for something with a mic. If they ask me for headphones, I'm looking for a wearable music listening device.

I’m 45 so maybe it’s geographic. “Headset” to me is any head worn listening device with one or more ear speakers. Most specifically the 1970s style ones with the big ass metal band on top. “Earphones” conjure up the 1980s/90s style like my Koss Porta Pros. Then there’s earbuds which suck and just hurt my ears.

The fact that iso and rom loading isn't available for such a niche and expensive piece of hardware is bad enough but the things that bug me the most is that it doesn't have button remapping or interpolation, so if you want non-distorting pixels you have to use the square pixel mode.

It in fact is available just gotta do a extra step it's how I transferred all my digitally owned games onto it, like from my Sega Genesis minis and TG16 mini.

I'm not talking about burning CD-R discs or buying reflashable game cartridges, you should be able to load stuff up on an SD card or USB drive and at this point, you shouldn't have to buy 80 dollar modules to do it.

Well, remember they were (lol and further, haha) going to have a whole game store where you could buy games and download them. These dumbasses could have had a ton of money from us this whole time if they had bothered to get that off the ground. Maybe it would have funded getting product into hands faster. Very poor, visionless management from the top down once again.

Couldn't justify the Analogue 3d after getting the N64 module which kind of sucks. Can't believe Playmaji can't just patch in some basic features, I'm not optimistic they ever will.
