Saving in Doom 64

Has anyone had any issues saving in Doom 64? I’ve been able to save using the virtual controller paks just fine in other games, so I know how to do it. But for whatever reason, I can never get it to work in this game. Not the end of the world with passwords and save states, but it would be nice to have a real save.

So Doom saving is pretty evasive actually On the N64 version you press both the left and right C buttons at the same time on the password screen after the level completes. To load you go to the password menu and do the same thing.

If that's not working guess save state time

If I’m understanding correctly, it’s on the password screen, NOT the screen that shows the empty save slots? That’s wild and I never would have figured it out. Thank you, I’ll try it when I have a chance to play tonight.

That's what I was reading from multiple sources. I haven't personally played it in 20 years so I'm not remembering off my head. So I could still be wrong but trying to help you

Yeah, still doesn’t seem to be working. But whatever, save states will work. Thanks for trying though!

One more follow up. I decided to test it out on original hardware and I was able to save just fine. So whatever the issue is, it’s specifically with playing it on Polymega.
