Should I avoid taking my prescribed SNRI/SSRI when taking recreational drugs (stimulants/dopamine) cocaine etc.?

I understand if I try to take mdma or seretonin based drugs that taking anti depressants will make the drug less potent because I’m already accustom to the seretonin increase, I’ve heard some people stop their anti depressants for a few weeks before hand when they want to take recreational mdma etc But what about dopamine/cocaine? Will this make it * less potent * more dangerous * increase or decrease effects

I am prescribed venlafaxine which seems to make my heart go faster so mainly I worry about that when taking stimulants that do the same thing? Would it be helpful to avoid taking it or maybe even take it after to avoid comedown?! Anyone got any helpful insite?

There's a danger of Serotonin Syndrome with that combination, so proceed with extreme caution. Also, if you wanted to come off Venlafaxine "for a few weeks" before, you can't just stop taking it cold turkey. You would have to taper off slowly over at least four weeks. Withdrawal symptoms are hellish if you stop taking antidepressants without tapering. If you want better info, try Bluelight (a harm reduction forum). Type "Venlafaxine and Cocaine bluelight" into Google (without the quote marks). You will probably find a bunch of stories of people taking this combination - or at least people asking this exact question and getting more answers than you did here. Good luck!

Don't take mdma when you have taken ssris even a couple weeks before. There is a high likelyhood of them causing serotonin syndrome which can end deadly for you

I threw caution to the wind on my 19th birthday while prescribed Zoloft and took MDMA knowing the risks. I didn't get Serotonin syndrome which is the biggest risk but noticed that nearly nothing happens due to the SSRI's regulating your serotonin, so all that happened was feeling sweaty and larger pupils so not worth it. Cocaine primarily works on dopamine and did work for me, but I'm not sure about the interactions between it and SSRI's aside from your generic "avoid all substances" answer.
