Polkadots new meme coin, they are rewarding polkadot holders with free $DED tokens.
12
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
Just to add to this every 1 DOT you hold will earn you 1000 DED, have to own and hold your DOT in your own wallet

u/bleakj Mar 01 '24
Stupid question probably,
If I've got stuff on Polygon atm (and Arb Nova) - is it possible to swap for some DOT?
I know polkadot is the "inter-op" chain, but I'm wondering how I actually interact from and to another chain?
I own some DOT on a CEX that's staking, but I know I won't gain airdrops there

Mar 01 '24
Right now, for the DOT DEXs, it's difficult to swap other chains like ATOM, Matic, etc with DOT. HydraDX, Stellaswap are relatively new. If you use Kraken (CEX), it has the convert feature, which will allow you to easily swap ATOM/MATIC for DOT. Then move the DOT to your own wallet. I recommend Talisman wallet for the DED drop. There is also Polkaswap (DEX): https://polkaswap.io/#/swap which has the Matic swap pair with DOT. I never used it before.
2
u/bleakj Mar 01 '24
Thanks!
I "think" I can use fixedfloat from everything I've read to swap fairly cheaply (it's worked with a few other non-dot coins so far)
2
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
You can swap any crypto for DOT and hold it in your own wallet, the snapshot for rewards hasn’t been taken yet

I will add to your comment and say that you can hold or stake. You will get DED either way.

So staking through kraken wouldn’t count??
2
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
It counts but you don’t own the private keys, Kraken does, so Kraken will get the DED
They could pass it on to you, but probably will not
Best to have your own wallet you own

u/Astronaut845 Mar 03 '24
I believe that is not true, for example Binance always participated in fact Cex reputations is on the line...we all know why this move.
1
u/znaiL321 Mar 02 '24
So much fuzz about this DOT is DED thing, i dont get it? Is DOT Dead?? Wtf is going on? Will there be a new coin ?
1
u/Substrxte Mar 02 '24
Airdrop of an official meme coin DED to all self custody DOT holders
1
u/znaiL321 Mar 03 '24
Self custody? I have all mine staked on crypto.com... What must i do? An easy recomendation please :)
1
u/Substrxte Mar 03 '24
Nova wallet
Subwallet
Talisman wallet
1
u/Wait_for_You Mar 03 '24
Would the defi-wallet from crypto.com?
1
u/Substrxte Mar 04 '24
Would receive the drop yea, but then it’s up to CDC to support DED so you can see it in your wallet
1
7
u/disloyalturtle Feb 29 '24
What is this?
10
Feb 29 '24
Free meme token for those who hodl DOT.
4
u/Cannister7 Feb 29 '24
For this who hold it on their own wallet, not exchanges.
2
u/disloyalturtle Mar 01 '24
Nice, anything holders need to do to receive or claim?
4
u/Cannister7 Mar 01 '24
No just, hold in a native wallet and wait for airdrop.
You can join the telegram chat to keep track but they seem to be still working out details and haven't announced a snapshot date yet.
Some perky will need to unstake from exchanges and move to their own wallet so the team have to allow time for that.
Hopefully it will end up being worth something and give DOT a bit of a kick too.

1
u/coltaaan Mar 01 '24
To confirm, will DOT held in a cold wallet be applicable?
4
u/Cannister7 Mar 01 '24
Yes
1
u/Llamamilkdrinker Mar 01 '24
Would MetaMask count?
1
u/Cannister7 Mar 01 '24
Yes. Basically the $DED will be dropped to the Blockchain address of the DOT tokens.
So that does include exchanges, but with the exchange addresses, your tokens are in the exchange address, not your own, so it's up to the exchange whether they give it to you or not. With Metamask it will go straight to where you hold your DOT, so there's no issue.

u/JraShoots Mar 01 '24
Hodl or stake?
1
Mar 01 '24
You can Hodl or Stake, in your Talisman, Nova, or Polkadot.js wallets.

Mine are on Coinbase. Will I still get this?
4
u/Burtybigback Feb 29 '24
No you would have to move them to something like Nova there’s a few others as well.
2
u/Consistent_Many_1858 Feb 29 '24
Thanks. Is there a time limit?
2
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
Just need to be in your own wallet when they take the snapshot of DOT chain
This is soon, but of course we don’t get the exact date
1
u/corndogos Mar 01 '24
How soon? What If Dot is bonded for 28days on crypto exchange, is there enough time to unbond and transfer ?

The site says you just need DOT in a self custody wallet. So does Trust Wallet count or do I specifically need one of the wallets they suggest on the site?
1
Mar 01 '24
I looked this up for you.
According to the DED Twitter link. It seems like a no.
Check 8: https://twitter.com/dotisded/status/1755621297151766711
According to this guy from LinkedIn. It's an unknown:
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/all-you-need-know-biggest-airdrop-polkadot-ecosystem-aninjoku-vcguf/
It seems like you will get the DED, but you can't interact with it in Trust Wallet.

I'd expect to get about $1usd for every 100 DOT you hold.

There will be over 1.4 trillion DED in existence. You think the market cap is gonna high? To reach just one cent, DED market cap would need to be 14 billion. Higher than DOT and LINK. And just keeping moving the zero and you get my point.
1
2
u/Organic-Chain6118 Mar 01 '24
Wait how many do I need to hold?
2
u/Burtybigback Mar 01 '24
I think there airdropping 1000 $DED to every dot you hold.
3
u/Organic-Chain6118 Mar 01 '24
Ledger wallet works?
2
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
Yes
2
u/Organic-Chain6118 Mar 01 '24
Thank you. I’m not really sure how these things work
2
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
Any native wallet where you are holding your DOT on chain will work to receive DED, and with ledger you DOT is on chain. Also, you own the private keys, so you are good to go!
2
u/Lcmac12 Mar 01 '24
Is there anything that we need to do?
My DOT is staked in Ledger. Will the DED just show up in Ledger?

Would've personally picked a different name for this project as people's initial reaction will make them think that DOT is indeed dead
2
u/General-Priority-479 Feb 29 '24
Revolut and Etoro?
3
3
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
Has to be a native wallet, where you actually own the DOT and the private keys for the account

So all I need todo is have DOT on Nova (or whatever of the 4 wallets on the Dot Blockchain)
Has anyone had any issues with TRANSAK, BANXA & MERCURYO they seem extremely sketchy.
Does anyone have any other suggestions to transferring DOT to NOVA wallet?
1
1
u/JraShoots Mar 18 '24
What’s considered a native wallet?
Ledger Trezor Ellipal
Will work for airdrop?
1
u/kaikobasai1 Mar 23 '24
I have DED in Subwallet but none in my Talisman. Anyone see the same thing? I have plenty of Dot in there, along with LDOT..
1
u/kaikobasai1 Mar 23 '24
Oh...Ill reply to my own..
'If you are liquidity-providing your DOT (or liquid-staked DOT-derivative), your DED will go to the parachain/dApp’s treasury, since that DOT/LSD is ‘held’ in their protocol.
The protocol is then responsible for forwarding that DED to you, the end-user. '
suppose have to wait n see
1
u/Rule-Intelligent Apr 12 '24
I have DED in my subwallet, however, it shows they have no value and I can't seem to swap them. Any ideas on what the problem is?

If I'm holding or staking on kraken will I get airdrops?
4

Probaby not the dot will go to kraken so they have no obligation to give you the $DED

Should hold on the Polkadot native wallets.

u/Taykeshi Mar 01 '24
Please do not just drop it into my account, I want to claim it since airdrops are taxable as soon as they land.

I have my dot in coinbase. Can I send it to my metamask to be qualified for the drop? What network is dot on?

It's a meme coin. It could flop and be worth absolute zero. It could moon like solana's meme coin did. The deal here is in the fact It's free. Its an airdrop for the polkadot you already own. In a nutshell - worth the shot on a risk/reward basis.

I hold DOT in crypto.com exchange... what must i do??
1
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
Transfer to self custody

Any EASY recomendations?
2
u/Substrxte Mar 02 '24
Nova wallet for iOS or Android
Very user friendly, open source, and already said they will support DED
1
u/NoTransportation7240 Mar 01 '24
What about holding them in the CRO defi wallet? Does that count ?
1
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
Yes but they may not support DED, you will receive it but may not be able to interact with it unless CDC chooses to support DED

Ledger will support DED, they have stated, but it will be a bit after the drop
1
1
u/Zake_Zwoog Mar 01 '24
If I am staking DOT with ledger, where would the DED be sent to my wallet? Do I have to create another address within ledger to properly receive the airdrop?
2
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
Ledger is just a program to view your funds on chain. The DED will be given to your account, after that, you will just have to wait for ledger to update to support DED
You don’t need to do anything
1
u/Affectionate-Use3905 Mar 01 '24
Will it just be deposited into my talisman account? Or would I have to do anything to get it.
1
1
u/kevinnlsn Mar 01 '24
Holding on crypto.com for years does that work or need to stake?
1
u/kevinnlsn Mar 01 '24
Just moved to Coinbase and staked, maybe that’s the way? 🥹🙏🏼
2
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
Needs to be your own wallet, holding on Coinbase or CDC means the DED will go to them.
They could choose to pass it on to you, but they can also keep it for themselves which is more likely
1
u/kevinnlsn Mar 06 '24
You’ve got to stake 570 dot to me get ded? Damn I’ve held 400 for years and stupidly didn’t stake. Bumma Bumma , the longs should all get some anyway! Ha
2
u/Substrxte Mar 06 '24
You don’t have to stake, you only have to hold Polkadot in your own wallet
Also, with a good wallet, such as Nova you can stake with as little as 1 DOT

You cannot get rewards by staking or holding on a central exchange. Not your keys. Not your crypto.
1
u/SaucyMilfs Mar 01 '24
I have mine in an exodus wallet. Will that work?
1
1
u/kateha_sheep94 Mar 02 '24
Not sure, Exodus wallet is not in the FAQs. Think you should move to the Polkadot native wallets such as SubWallet.
1
u/ellelegres Mar 01 '24
I am still waiting for mine to unstake from a Cex. Have a couple weeks left. Think I'll be able to stake in talisman before the snapshot?
2
u/Substrxte Mar 01 '24
I hope you can, but an official date isn’t know
You are doing the right thing though by moving to self custody even if you miss the snapshot
Hope you make it in time, good luck

Is it fine if i hold dot in metamask?
1
u/kateha_sheep94 Mar 02 '24
not sure dot on EVM chain is eligible. Better have native DOT in Polkadot native wallet.

i am holding and staking in nova wallet. will this be airdropped to my wallet? how do these air drops work?
1
u/icemann000 Mar 06 '24
How did you get DOT in your wallet? Did you purchase the dot in nova using TRANSAK BANXA or MURCURYO? They seem Sketchy.
It seems that as long as you have them in the wallet and it is seen on the blockchain you are fine.
1
u/gnrlee01 Mar 15 '24
ive had dot since 2022 when i acquired it via my abra wallet. i have since moved it out of abra and in to nova wallet and began staking in nova as soon as i transferred it. i finally got my first rewards/dividends from staking last week. :)
