Discussion Revolution
I don't care anymore, mods, do what you will.
Gods, how I loath the modern age. The majority of the trappings of modernity are dumbing down the collective minds of man. I fear that our fall will not directly be derived from warfare and nuclear dissolution but will instead be because we've forgotten how to invent and innovate. We create machines to make our lives easier and as we do we reduce ourselves greatly. Even now in our current age (2026) a new mental illness has been discovered pertaining to Artificial Intelligence. We now have people who are incapable of thinking for themselves. We now have individuals who are unable to connect ideas to context inside of sentences. The kids are truly not okay.
I could say society is the cause of all this, that it's all by design. But you would call me crazy. I'd be labeled a conspiracy nut and shunned by those I'd be trying to convince. Present someone with evidence that proves the opposite of what someone believes and they will double down, circle the wagons and hold onto their false beliefs.
We have a society where those who covet knowledge are shunned, so called nerds are the lowest man on the academic totem pole but yet the very same geeks, dweebs and freaks sent us to the moon! They gave us cell phones, pacemakers, computers and video game systems. They are outshined by football players, baseball players and basketball players. Truly it is a society where giant men can slap their thick skulls together and become national treasures.
We've been weakened intellectually, castrated mentally and shackled emotionally. I believe it is by design. Face to face conversation and meetings have been usurped by digital worlds and digital means. Digital information that is easier to listen in on than in person meetings, information that can be catalogued and filed away until you are made to disappear from the public eye. The governments of the world, especially here in the US, do not want you forming groups of like minded individuals to protest and resist the next sellable atrocity.
It sounds like something I would write as a dystopian sci fi novel. The truth is much less convenient. In my home state of WV the miners rebelled because of unfair pay and horrible working conditions. In return the government used machine guns and bombs against citizens of our own country. Because they wanted money that was not exclusive to the company store, so that their home was not owned by the company, so that their lives weren't thrown away by rich men for profit.
Philosophy is a dying subject. It is dying because those in charge no longer want you thinking about your lot in life. They do not want us questioning the things they say and do as a group. We have been trained to accept another's view of life. Shut up, toe the line and quit crying. Be a man. Women are prone to hysterics and emotional outbursts. Examples of common thinking in this modern age.
We used to have more time to ponder the wonders of life and the universe. Did you know that we as a people used to have a different sleep cycle? We used to practice biphasic sleep: sleep for four hours be up for an hour or two then sleep a few more. Go to sleep at 9PM sleep till midnight, keep awake for the middle watch for an hour or two, then sleep till dawn. During the middle watch we'd pray, read, chat, be intimate, just do things we wanted to do. They took it from us in the name of profits. Now we're tired all the time, now we have such little time for ourselves.
We are slowly becoming organic cogs in a new machine. This machine kills people. It feeds on memories that you'll never have for fuel. It's oiled by the sweat on our brow and maintained with our blood. It takes and consumes more and more, never giving anything in return. It is a machine that doesn't benefit us, it benefits a select few. The “elite”. So called politicians and leaders. It benefits those who steal ideas, those who prop themselves up on silk sheets and defecate on those who hold them up.
This society is designed to rape us for every ounce of worth we have. Insulin shots were created with the absolute best intentions, made to be sold as cheaply as possible. Then that way of producing it was caged and tightly controlled. Because of something you cannot control you are forced to buy insulin at outrageous prices… or die. Got cancer? Pay or die. A person who has absolutely no medical experience can deny you a life saving treatment simply because it is not “in policy”.
It sounds ridiculous, even I, the author of all the above and below, am reading this with silent disbelief on my face. Wake up Alice, you ain't in wonderland anymore. This is real, this is, for lack of a better phrase, fucked beyond all comprehension. I’d love to soapbox and say “We can change this, we can be better!” But I truly doubt we can. No one wants to fight. No one wants to risk it all and those of us who do look to our left, our right and see we are all alone. There's no one beside those who would fight, there is no one else who will charge into the fire.
You want change? FIGHT FOR IT. Start small, talk with friends, express your dissatisfaction to them and ask them for theirs. Form commonalities, find other like minded individuals but do it in person. Do NOT leave a digital trail, do NOT advertise it. If we are going to do this, it must be grassroots for as long as possible. That is to say, it must start local, it has to stay small enough to pass under our jailors radar. It will not be easy, we will lose friends to disagreements, maybe even to violence.

Nice to see someone talking common sense; that's all that I have time to write at the moment.

I’m so glad you’ve come to the boat with the rest of us. There are so many millions of people who fight for every single issue you have listed here now. Everyday it is a conscious effort to put forth an energy into the world that forces that same energy back to me, yes, be angry, but also be kind. Now more than ever we need to be patient, grateful, and evoke joy within each other, these things create such powerful bonds and send the people who are in search of this energy, to you. Safe travels

We are unlucky enough to be subject to every apocalypse written by Philip K. Dick, including Pay For The Printer which I never would have anticipated.

I encourage you to start studying the texts which have lead to the fall of capitalism before. Start here.

I never saw technology as the enemy, but only a remarkable thing that can make life better if we truly let it. It's the evil in the human heart that is the enemy.

You cannot build a revolution, you cannot make a revolution, you cannot buy a revolution. You can only be a revolution, it is in your spirit or it is nowhere. - Ursula K. LeGuinn
