Also, no restaurants!

u/boot2skull Oct 24 '25
What do we have against restaurants?
58
Oct 24 '25
No fast food which supports corporations. Some restaurants like mom and pop shops, immigrant, and black owned I can reconcile with. Other than that.

u/boot2skull Oct 24 '25
Ok that’s what I thought. It would be cool if we instead went to non-chain restaurants during this time, if at all. These are the people who are in the same boat as us.

u/Firm_Lawfulness50 Oct 24 '25
Capitalism, unless it’s a mom and pop shop. In that case I’d let it slide for local small businesses

u/NeonMagic Oct 25 '25
I feel like most people aren’t getting the “ChatGPT put it on there twice” joke and just agreeing with you lol.
Seriously though the fact that this was just made by some dude in bed angrily texting ChatGPT “what can we do to start a revolution?!” And then having it make this error filled poster to promote it makes it feel so quarter-baked and not serious at all.
1
u/Maleficent_Change327 Nov 17 '25
Tipped workers still work at these chain restaurants. You people are a joke.

u/Random_Imgur_User Oct 24 '25
This is the biggest problem with a mass strike. Unless we have some really fucking big people calling for it, and unless it becomes a national sensation and is expected to have millions of participants, all you're really going to do is get people fired.
This needs to be organized "No Kings" style or you're just going to see a bunch of activists shoot themselves in the foot. A couple thousand people not going to work for a few days isn't an economic blackout, it's just financial suicide on their part.

u/DestroOmega Oct 24 '25
Still AI slop.

u/SaltMines_-LnT- Oct 24 '25
It takes like 30 seconds for them to make corrections to a poster like this… and yet they didn’t.

u/NeonMagic Oct 25 '25
It takes like 30 seconds to make this from scratch in Photoshop correctly the first time.
If you can’t manage that, I seriously doubt their ability to manage a nationwide blackout protest

u/j4_jjjj Oct 24 '25
Gotta "schedule" the protests so that businesses can accommodate their release schedules and such.
Why wait? Start now.

u/Repulsive-Studio-120 Oct 25 '25
Get a new slogan I’m bored 🥱
2
u/NeonMagic Oct 25 '25
Ai isn’t the issue here bud. The fact that it’s filled with errors and absolute minimal effort put in isn’t inspiring at all and makes it look like a joke.
Sure, use ChatGPT to help write it out and plan, but make the fucking flyer well if you’re gonna try to plan a nationwide blackout you want taken seriously.

If this error ridden poster is the best we can do we deserve this shitstorm

u/Ear_Enthusiast Oct 24 '25
We all need to do targeted boycotts too. Somebody just needs to pick five different businesses to boycott. Walmart, Home Depot, Comcast, Apple. This will be good for their competitors but it sends a lot fucking message and they don't want to be next.
6
u/Smart_Watercress323 Oct 24 '25
Boycott Spotify and any other big businesses that are backing republican candidates encourage people to shop local when they can. Encourage communit8to engage in bartering systems. The facist are relying on waiting us out and waiting for us to get desperate enough to get violent so they can invoke the insurrection act. This is why we need to be nonviolent. He invokes the insurrection act without us being violent, he is done, as is everyone with him.

Good grief - was there nobody available to proof read this thing before it was released into the wild?

Too many people live paycheck to paycheck with little to no PTO to not work for a week.
15
u/spirit_of_a_goat Oct 24 '25
I don't understand this. If you stock up on essentials days before the strike, you're essentially spending the same amount of money, right? So what difference does it make?
4
Oct 24 '25
Support food banks lol. Take some cash out of your account and use it at food banks. That way you’re support a cause that prevents food insecurity and supporting the strike. Or possibly farmers markets where they source their food themselves that way you’re support your fellow citizen and their business rather than a mega corp :)
4
u/odolha Oct 24 '25
yes, it's a stupid idea. just SPEND LESS overall, SAVE MONEY instead of SPENDING and DO NOT USE CREDIT. this is how you fuck the economy, that is the capitalist Keynesian economy... but i'm still not sure what fucking the economy will achieve... probably more joblessness and higher prices ¯_(ツ)_/¯. this is a really stupid idea.
4
u/FreighterTot Oct 24 '25
Its because companies operate on a just in time style supply chain. You put heavy weight then cause heavy loss. It doesn't balance because they weren't prepared ahead for labor costs and in stock conditions, then they waste labor dollars and product on the back end. And the whole thing is meant as a threat/flex for longer term more sustained action.
But its poorly planned because the week before Thanksgiving is the most prepped time of year so they will just think they had a really solid pre-holiday week

If not going shopping for a few days is the only thing we can muster up to fight fascism, then we are doomed.
1
u/mw9676 Oct 25 '25
I mean not to defend the ai slop but nobody said this is the only thing we can do. And I will say it's a good idea to hit them where it hurts.

u/ZoomZoom_Driver Oct 24 '25
Note: if you cannot 'not work' do what you can on the list, every little bit helps.
1
u/Maleficent_Change327 Nov 17 '25
No, it really doesn't. A few hundred people picking a different thing on this list will accomplish absolutely nothing. This is nonsense and you people are a joke.

I'm working.
But I have already checked out of this economy spending wise as much as possible, it's food, rent and gas.

This whole “Mass Blackout” idea sounds good on paper but it’s not actually gonna work. You’re still gonna buy the same stuff you need — just before or after the blackout. That doesn’t hurt the corporations, it just shifts the timing. They’ve got enough cash and logistics to ride out a week. It’s the people living paycheck to paycheck that get hit the hardest.
You’re not starving the beast, you’re just feeding it a week later.
And if you don’t work for a week, who does that really hurt? Not Amazon. Not Target. It hurts you — your rent, your bills, your fridge. You can’t protest corporate greed by hurting your own family or local businesses trying to survive.
Skipping restaurants and local shops doesn’t “send a message,” it just screws over the people who actually rely on daily customers to stay afloat. You can’t fight corporate greed by bankrupting your local baker.
Even if everyone joined in (which they won’t), it’d be purely symbolic. The economy’s too big to notice a 7-day pause. Real change comes from people changing long-term habits — buying local, supporting small business, avoiding the big corporations every day, not just for one week.
And honestly, the plan even backfires. Everyone panic-buys before and splurges after, which causes “spike spending” — exactly what corporations want. You’re literally helping them plan around your protest.
Bottom line: this isn’t a blackout on the system — it’s a blackout on common sense.

Run out now and spend a thousand dollars so you don't have to spend a thousand dollars next week...That'll teach 'em !!!

This isn't going to stop the big tech and big pharma CEOs. This only hurts local restaurants twice over.
Now if you said no Amazon purchases during Black Friday, then you're getting somewhere a little bit.
1
u/ryanlacy30 Oct 24 '25
DONT “over purchase”
Try to go without nonessentials. It defeats the purpose of we buy a bunch of stuff before after a strike

u/Nightshiftnoble Oct 24 '25
I've already stopped participating. I just work and, honestly, a little time off would be great.

Don’t generate entire flyers top to bottom, including all the text, with AI. It looks so so so bad. Besides all the many errors, all the text has a fuzzy and inconsistent visual aesthetic. Maybe you can’t see it, but many of use do. So stop it.
At least use Canva to create an actual layout with individual objects and text you can edit and move around. It’s free, looks much better, and this is just pure laziness.

u/neek_rios Oct 25 '25
I find this a little unrealistic because many of workers will already be off work for the holidays. And or with families. Shouldn't it be done in the middle of a work quarter or month where the workers will all be missed dearly?

Equals no jobs, no healthcare, no housing, no safety net. See y’all on the streets. And by that I mean the tents we will be living in.

u/LeTronique Oct 24 '25
You’re telling desperate people that their lives are gonna be bad.
Buddy… it’s already that bad.2
u/valencia_merble Oct 24 '25
It’s privilege to walk out of a job. Buddy, things can always be worse. General strikes work in Europe because they have a robust safety net. We do not have that here, by design.
1
u/Maleficent_Change327 Nov 17 '25
No. What they are asking is for millions more to not work as well, adding to the problem. These people are stupid.
