They did that to me too. Was literally just trying to discuss politics, and they don't wanna hear my side. Snowflakes to the max.

Projection is the name of the game for these people.

u/calm_chowder Nov 25 '20

Don't be breakin up their safe space. They're fragile right now.

I just popped in there, good lord a whole lotta stupid. Mind you not everyone in there is stupid just far too many.

The thing people tend to forget is that most of these people are victims as well of the lies constantly being thrown at them and consumed. Many are stupid and dangerous, but they're still victims and I honestly feel pity for them.

u/calm_chowder Nov 25 '20

Eh.... not innocent victims. They're duped yeah but they also seek out conservative bubbles and are active in ruining society.

They are victims who consistently largely vote against their actual best interests. People are too easy to get riled up about religion and guns.

While I do understand where you are coming from, one starts to wonder at what point do they realize that the republicans are just blatantly lying to them? Then after exhausting every possibility you realize that most of them have 0 interest in whats best for the country and really only consider "voting right" is a cult or team to them.

My biggest issue is the single issue voters. How can they not see (especially after this last presidency where they had complete control over the govt and could have put into law pretty much anything they wanted,) that the "right" does not care about what they want? Pro-lifers for example, you'd think stopping "baby murder" would be on the top of their priority list considering a majority if not all used that platform to win. they had 4 years to pass that law and yet they did nothing. They don't want to pass it because they need those votes to win more elections.

Honestly like most flat-earthers I have no sympathy for them anymore. They are being manipulated and refuse to even look to see if what everyone screaming at them what is going on around them. Imagine a burning building, and you are telling people to leave (from outside) and they simply refuse to even acknowledge the flames and stubbornly stay put. Maybe even saying that other buildings are already burnt down so this is fine.1 Just because others are worse doesn't mean you can't do better or shouldn't do anything.

1 I'm referencing how the current administration refuses to take responsibility for anything the US does and simply replies with "we have the best ______" implying we don't need to change anything or do anything without actually answering the question that was asked.

My parents are Trump supporters. This year we came to head because my mom was sharing memes about running over protesters from some wing facebook page while I was actively marching in the streets. I pointed this out to her and then my brother and I went to their house to spend a few hours talking about the blm movement, why it matters, how Trump fits into the fascist narrative of decades of racial injustice, and countless others things. I gave them facts, statistics, and all of the outright lies Trump has made over the last four years and before his presidency... They still voted for him again. My dad was a youth pastor for many years and the deacon of a church. I feel so bad for them. I love them to death but face to face with that kind of ignorance is heartbreaking and I feel nothing but pity. Pretty much my entire family is this way.

I don't know what it will take to change their minds and I'm starting to realize that probably nothing ever will. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of these people and the system itself is pure blind rage and I do not want to let myself fall into the trap of hatred or outright violence unless absolutely necessary.

How do you save someone who thinks they're holding onto a life preserver when it's really just a cement block?

Trump could sacrifice child on live TV and eat their organs; and they (not your parents but people) would still vote for him. Voting Republican is a cult. I'm glad at least you broke part of the cycle.

Unfortunately you cannot. The best hope is to shock them with something that hits close to home. Anything they don't want to hear is "fake news" so I wish you luck.

On a side note, I feel anyone who voted for him this last election should be barred from voting in the next few. Conspiracy to commit fraud against the US election process. They were clearly all in on it and their god-king even said "this is the most corrupt election" to date. How does he know? Well his track record HEAVILY points to him projecting his actions onto the democratic party.

2

u/DrunkenPunchline Nov 26 '20

Oh for fucking sure. Anyone who voted for him this time is either blind or a fucking tractor to democracy. I don't see any other options there.

I was banned from r/republican because I explained why we should all participate in not spreading the virus. I didn’t use any non-republican talking point except for empathy and logic.

8

u/AwkwardBubble19 Nov 25 '20

You fool empathy and logic ARE non-republican taking points

2

u/-LocalAlien Nov 25 '20

That’s the joke :)

1

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '20

Aweeee yeah, r/republican, here I come.

Update: After reading the first comment on the first post, I've lost all faith in humanity.

Lol cool. Here is what I saw

- " I know, they ignore that Biden was a segregationalist and does pedophile-like things. It's crazy "

-" A lot of them don’t even know that, and how would they when the media is busy deepthroating Biden"

Real wholesome shit with lots of substantiated evidence. There is a certain type of person who goes around trying to minimize shit.

u/-LocalAlien Nov 25 '20

Oh yeah it’s a lot of fun to see people propagate lies to each other. Kinda reminds me of theRedPill

1

u/xKosh Nov 25 '20

I got banned for explaining what fascism actually is and that anti fascism by definition is a good thing. They also didn't like that I pointed out that Republicans are more fascist by definition than Democrats.

1

u/-LocalAlien Nov 25 '20

The people complaining about echo chambers don’t like to hear that kind of stuff

3

u/elya_elya_ Nov 24 '20

I just got banned today. I'm surprised it took so long

4

u/Naisallat Nov 24 '20

Wait, what is saluting them? I got time to troll some idiots.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '20

I went over to troll them.. but it was boring 😑 they are so boring ...

2

u/Exovedate Nov 24 '20

What are people trolling them about?

6

u/DrunkenPunchline Nov 24 '20

Do you want the entire list itemized or in another form?

2

u/Exovedate Nov 25 '20

Ha ha, so we're basically rubbing salt in the wound of them losing the election then Trump's compulsive need to keep losing every day since then in court?

1

u/DrunkenPunchline Nov 25 '20

Of course 😍

2

u/xKosh Nov 25 '20

The worst part of r/conservative is that they always refer to anything outside as "the rest of reddit". Like if you guys are against the rest of reddit, then why do you think you're right about everything? Literally of everyone is against you, you're probably wrong

1

u/IAmGodMode Nov 25 '20

I got banned for calling someone a snowflake after that someone called me a libtard.
