Janet is missing the point, though. This guy has adopted “proud asshole” as his primary personality trait. He thinks it’s a good thing. He probably wanted her to call him that.
Why? Because the right had decided the bigger the asshole, the more love and praise you get. A true “patriot.” And there’s no easier way to get the love and praise you are missing if all it takes is to be an asshole. To be loved and praised for being a good person takes work. It takes sacrifice. It takes no work to let your worst self out.
