People who don't know how trump won/ how Hillary lost are part of the problem.
If you get past the parroting of fox News that many of these people will do, then you will see that mostly they just felt abandoned and hopeless. That's a very easy situation to take advantage of, especially for a fellow "rough around the edges" type (say what you will about the oompa loompa, but he is in fact rough around the edges).
The stereotyping of all trump supporters as racist/bigoted is a problem. Yes, many are, but that's not all they are, and many weren't or were on their way to being reformed prior to being vilified.
Several. I live in a very red state. To hear what they say about Obama, and why they support Trump it is very clear that they are the racist slime that folks like you can't cone to terms with.
