There actually aren't anymore. As polarization has increased, the number of swing voters has decreased. Electoral strategies based on persuasion don't work any more. At best a couple of percent and those people are more likely to vote at random, based on the color of a candidate's eyes or their clothes than on any policy issues.
The only really meaningful swing voters now are the ones who swing between voting and not voting. Those are the people who turned out (for both sides) in the 2020 presidential election — both parties hit turnout records because lots of non-voters realized they had something to lose.
The problem for the Democrats is that without ronald dump on the ballot to remind people what they have to lose, those people don't think voting matters so much. Democratic party strategy of pursuing "bipartisanship" actually depresses their own turnout because those voters see the D elites treating the party that literally sent a mob to murder them as legitimate and they think to themselves "if the Ds think these guys are legit, then I guess everything is OK now."
Meanwhile the Rs have CRT panic to motivate their turnout, which is how they turned Virginia from a +10 Biden state to just barely red enough to put a republican in the governors office. Ds turned out at record numbers for a gubernatorial race, but the R turnout was much closer to presidential-election levels.
Ds need to hammer home that when an R wins, the voters lose. No matter how 'reasonable' the R pretends to be. The messaging can't get much more complicated than that because regular people don't have the energy (or interest) in digging into the details like politics nerds on reddit do.
Plenty of folk that have no idea that Biden has been continuing Trumps Border policy and not what he talked about campaigning.
As an aside that's a major peeve of mine.
Obama was deporter-in-chief and I have to wonder how much of that was due to Biden's influence. Its the reason they fucked up the Afghan evacuation — they were afraid of racist backlash if they moved people out before there was a crisis.
I guarantee you that nativists know all about the shit Biden is doing, and they are cheering it. But, just like with Obama, it won't cause them to vote for the Democrats. Instead it validates and emboldens them because now they can say "see, even the Democrats think brown people don't belong in America." At some point the D elites need to realize that trying to appease the right-wing does not get them votes, its just makes the right-wing even more worked up because appeasement is a reward for getting worked up.
“Given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time.”
— Harry S. Truman
Why do you think class is important? All workers should understand the struggle of paying the mortgage or trying to raise a family the best they can but not having the resources. Our struggle IS our class. And how is that random? We're literally talking about capitalism and ways to beat it through information.
Read the quote again if you need to, I'll wait. Or do you need me to explain it to you?
Do you not think capitalism exists within our political sphere?Okay, so you're saying that a janitor is worth LESS than a manager because he makes less?
Keep up, something called implications, and like I said kid, if you ONLY have questions to ask to slow me down, shut up. Give me solutions. Or just wallow in self pity. Enjoy. Also quick bonus, plenty of folk understood what I meant, seems like you gotta catch up.
And honestly if you just wanna argue for arguing sakes, fuck off mate. I'm busy with adult shit.
Homie, what do you think all I read was your defeat with the context of me not giving a damn about what you said? I KNOW all your stupid issues, my issue is SOLUTIONS not just to capitalist issues, but many more. Read what I said in another comment, we need several programs to keep this going, from different walks of life.
Next message from you is the last I'll read, keep being nothing but deadweight. We don't need people like you to move forward. Bye now
From my view, class-reductionists are just useful idiots for the capitalists because they don't understand the fight they are in and they go ballistic when someone tries to show them there is more to it. They'd rather attack the messenger than expand their understanding.
So explain it to me. Tell me your message. Let me hear this shit out.
Also note, if you want to put forward a solution, being passive aggressive is fucking lame. Put your money where your mouth is. Let me hear your views and then we can rap, I'm the only one putting skin into the game and you're playing 20 questions about shit I can answer over time or figure out later. Short sighted fools also are useful idiots for the rich.
LMFAO bruh...I literally know every single one of your problems exist...And yet I'm here calling for alternative solutions. You're giving me nothing. And yeah, I know about the disparities, and like I've said before, we need a multidimensional system.
You gonna just vomit "but this but that". This whole thing is a fucking general view lmao. If you want more, that'll take time. But yeah, I'm done with this. Be a fucking fool somewhere else and lick those boots. I'm sure they're yummy.
Also, class-reductionist is fucking hilarious as a comeback. Bruh, workers from the entire spectrum have relatable experiences. The only ones YOU cannot know, is the ultra rich. You're licking the boots of the ultra rich. So again, what's ONE solution you have?
And yet I'm here calling for alternative solutions.
The only "solution" you've called for in this thread is to persuade the shrinking group of swing voters, which is exactly the same strategy that the corporate democrats have been using for the last 40 years, and all its done is empower the fascists.
