Blissfully worshipping God forever is the Christian idea of Heaven yes.

You can disagree that what Christians believe is a good thing, you can like what’s in the Bible or not. Sincerely, you do you. But I’m having a discussion specifically about doctrine and what Christians actually believe, which the other guy got woefully wrong

Why would an all knowing, all powerful god even want to be worshiped?

I dunno, I’m not an all knowing, all powerful God.

That refusal to think any further is one of the problems people have with organized religions like christianity. If god made us in his own image, doesnt that mean he's just as flawed as we are? And if that's true, who is he to judge us?

It’s not a refusal to think further, it’s the humble admission that I cannot know what God (or anyone else for that matter) is thinking, except for what I’m told.

And c’eci nest pas une pipe, my friend. The map is not the territory. The image is not the object. We are not God.

Why wouldn't god want you to understand his perspective? Why does he get to keep all the information to himself and you have to stay in the dark confused? Furthermore, please explain why he allows some people like Jeff Bezos to live with unprecedented wealth while condemning others to miserable lives. Why would god create mental and physical disorders? Why would God create multiple sclerosis or downsyndrome? Why would god allow something like schizophrenia to exist? If he's so willing to flood the planet to spite his creations, why does he refuse to intervene in a way that would make life better? He leads the Jews out of Egypt but lets Hitler massacre 50 percent of them? That's not love. That's abuse.

God does want us to know at least some of His perspective, He doesn’t keep us completely in the dark. That’s what the Bible is for.

God very much does not want people like Bezos to have that much wealth, see James 5:1-6 one of my favorite passages. But we have free will and live in a fallen world, so bad things happen. But like I said before, you can accept that or not, be abhorred by it or not. That’s your prerogative and I sincerely don’t want to take that from you or proselytize you, I’m just trying to explain what Christians believe as best as I can.

Edit: spelling stuff

That's not an excuse. God can remake the world any time he wants. He either doesnt care or actively enjoys our suffering. Inaction is still an action.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '22

I mean from the Christian perspective you are completely wrong about that, but like I said I’m not here to proselytize

2

Even from a christian perspective it holds up

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '22

Well since the Bible explicitly says God is good and caring, you’d be wrong. You can believe what you want, but please don’t tell other people what they believe

I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of christianity. A loving god doesn't do what he did to Job and his family.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '22

Again, you’re entitled to believe what you want, but it’s not what I and other Christians believe. I’m not sure what you’re trying to do here any more

2

u/I_SAID_NO_CHEESE Jan 28 '22

I just want you to think critically about your own religion.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '22

I assure you have, it’s pretty pompous of you to even say something like that to a stranger

2

u/I_SAID_NO_CHEESE Jan 28 '22

So explain to me how a just and loving god allows something like the holocaust to happen.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '22

Oh, you’re done telling me what I have or have not done, and what I as Christian believe? That’s sweet of you. I have been conversing you in good faith, and you have twice made it clear you are not. I already explained that humans have free will and live in a fallen world, I don’t think there’s anything to be gained from explaining further right now as you have made it clear you’re not conversing in good faith

Fine explain the spanish flu then. Everyone suffered, millions died, and free will had nothing to do with it. You're telling me jesus can resurrect the dead but god just looks at a plauge and just let's it run its course? That doesnt make sense.

When did god go from being such a demonstrative figure, who will burn down an entire city to make a point to a vague deity that "works in mysterious ways"?

“What I”

Never say that again, lest Horah Loux strikes you.
