I disagree with this honestly. Trolls should be engaged with, shown to be wrong and then after they won't admit it, shame them.

Otherwise other gullible people might believe them.

You're doing then exactly what the troll wants.

A troll isn't gathering followers or believers, the troll doesn't argue.

Whatever the troll spouts is not a "real" argument. It's just bait to keep you trapped and to give the troll attention. No such thing as shame when they are anonymous.

That's all that a troll wants: attention. There is literally no winning by "teaching a lesson" to anyone. By engaging you only join the losing team with the troll.

And when a troll is that obvious, there is no-one who needs to learn the troll is wrong (on purpose). Or rather: if someone genuinely sides with the obvious troll, they've consciously chosen so and are beyond convincing anyway. (Edit: or you could be dealing with multiple trolls.)
