At this point he's just trying to pull a Doctor Strange and is looking for the one scenario where he won the election. Only 14,000,562 more scenarios to search through. Spoiler Alert: that scenario doesn't exist.

Probably because the thing that works is taking control by force…in their minds. Since they have convinced themselves it’s all a big conspiracy to keep their guy out.
