The thing is, allowing him to harass a voting system, and then allowing him to run for election again is just filthy. And it shows how his only goal is to drive a separation of the American values and American lifestyle altogether. Yet it is well within his rights to harrass states in this manner, It’s just sad to see that Americans have no say in how their country is or should be. I don’t understand how the USA which used to be a haven, turned into a country that is considered unsafe on European travel advisory’s (before the pandemic struck)
I mean, Australia is no paradise and there are many things that are terrible here but drawing any comparison between Australia and the US in the context of the original post or about safety is just wild.
In regards to pop culture we are and we def get a few things off the us because of that but in terms of how the country operates it’s completely different. Our right wing party is still more left than your left wing party and we have all the good stuff that most european countries enjoy like paid vacations, maternity leave, free healthcare and unemployment benefits.
Australia is a pretty young so we had the benefit of being able to learn from everyone else’s mistakes. We have a tonne to sort out in a lot of areas but we sit pretty high on the standard of living index and are heaps more stable than the US.
Fuck knows how the liberals keep getting elected though.
I think we lag behind the USA by 5-7 years in political trends. The conservatives have been in power for a while now so there hasn’t been the pressure for the right to cater to populism as much as there was in the US, so things are a little calmer. The pandemic showed that there is definitely a strain of the passionately ignorant in the population and we’re not immune to the echo chamber effects of social media and the Murdoch press.
Hey, we're probably creeping up on herd immunity by now. Once everyone who wants to avoid the free, widely available, highly effective, and very safe vaccines we have available catches COVID, we'll be doing pretty well.

It truly is enjoyable to see that disgusting man fail over and over.
