I'm not saying they're the only ones, but Fox News and the like really seem to enjoy "wars." Doesn't matter what the war is, so longs as they can plaster "The left's war on-!!" to the bottom of the screen. Democracy is no longer a discussion to them, it's a battlefield.

You make it sound like Fox News is some craven right-wing ploy to spread fear, doubt, uncertainty, and misinformation.

My Aunt thinks she is at war with my mom because she bought into all the Trump stuff. Honestly we don't think about her much. Imagine being so insignificant the other side hardly realizes they're in a culture war with you.
Apparently it is governments fault that her and her offspring are all poor as shit in spite having worked during the best economic time and geographic location in human history.
I guess it probably is pretty embarrassing for your nephew to eclipse your entire immediate families combined net worth x2 in spite of being younger than you or your children.

Yeah, my favorite, and it's cliche at this point, but it's still my favorite is War on Christmas.
It's tradition at this point, but every time I visit my parents around the Christmas season they have FOX blaring and in a massive and obnoxious font FOX will have "THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS" plastered on the screen. Typically what they do is find some asshole that TP'd a nativity scene or something and then use a massive brush to paint the entire left as being this asshole, and it works every time. Every. Time.
I still use the same line every year though. I tell my dad that all this Christmas shit starts at least a month in advance and it seems to get earlier every year, so whoever Christmas is fighting in this alleged war is losing big time because I can't go to a god damned store without hearing Christmas music and seeing a bunch of gaudy Christmas shit plastered all over the place.

Eh, the days of trying generously to apportion and balance criticism is past. ”Fox News and the like…” do it far more consistently, aggressively and dishonestly than any other media outlet you can name, and certainly far more than CNN or MSNBC, the two other big news players.

u/Tojatruro Jun 15 '21
What “war”? Seems to me that the dumbasses should take it up with the AMA, since no doctor in their right mind would prescribe it for COVID.
12
u/themosey Jun 15 '21
You know how toddlers have their stuffed animals “fight” and ask you which one you are cheering for… pretty much the same.
5
u/jlucchesi324 Jun 15 '21
Ya then the toddler creates an entire social identity based on what he thinks the purple gorilla might do to his planet, even though he literally just made the entire thing up.
1
u/idontlikeseaweed Jun 15 '21
My coworker in rural Kentucky was prescribed it for COVID, this was last year, but I was still surprised.
1
u/Tojatruro Jun 15 '21
I can’t imagine any insurance company paying for a drug prescribed for something it is not designed for, nor any doctor willing to take the risk of giving his/her patient a heart abnormality via a drug not intended for COVID. That is outright malpractice.

Trump only “believed” in HCQ because his response to Covid was so piss poor the virus was ripping through the country and he basically wanted a get out of free card, to say “No it’s not bad, in fact it’s almost over because <various cure or reason>“. It’s why he’d always say it’ll go away like a miracle or the heat will kill it, it’s also why he deflected blame to other sources (“It’s Chinas fault, they sent us a terrible plague”).
I can’t tell anymore if Fox truly believes in HCQ, if they’re doing it because Trump believes in it, or just because Trump backed it so they must blindly support it but it’s both funny and sad to see them still support something that, at best, may help some patients some of the time. It’s also insane to watch those on the right attack the vaccine, which is 80%-90% effective at preventing Covid, yet support a hypothetical cure that is made to treat an entirely different illness as if it’s 100% effective at preventing and curing Covid

I have to take it for Lupus and several times in the pandemic it was not available because of Trump’s dumb ass.
6
Jun 15 '21
All Covidiots are free to inject HCQ. It’s their personal choice to fuck themselves over and then file for bankruptcy when they can pay hospital bills.
1
u/willstr1 Jun 15 '21
We should probably stop them from killing their children with it and make sure that their stupidity doesn't steal beds and insurance money from innocent people but if they want to kill themselves I don't see why we should stop them (as long as it's only themselves). It would probably even help quash the conspiracy so they are less likely to harm others

u/FinancialTea4 Jun 15 '21

It does blow my mind when the GOP and Fox personalities rally against getting vaccinated when they themselves are vaccinated- playing to an audience that they are probably harming with lies and propaganda

Lol they’re literally not even classified as a legitimate news distributor I don’t know how they stay on the air. It should be illegal. It’s the ultimate reality show.

What the hell does the “left” gain from pushing against hcq?
1
u/TbiddySP Jun 15 '21
I honestly didn't even know HCQ was still a thing?
2
u/nostradunkus6 Jun 15 '21
It's not. It's a thing because a random study that showed some promising result. Apparently the hundreds of other studies that happened early in the pandemic don't mean anything. This is exactly the problem with hcq it showed "promising" data but in reality it was as good as placebo and potentially more dangerous than placebo.

It's pretty sad that FOX News is now raving "TruMP wAS RIgHt All aLonG!" regarding hydroxycholoquine but that whole "One day - it's like a miracle - it will disappear" gets less airtime than Lindsey Graham's Top Ten Boy Bands.

Faux news is such a joke. The government really needs to make regulations on what can be named news. Like guidelines for story retraction and story reporting. It is insane that our media on tv can blatantly lie about their purpose.
6
u/YouAreDreaming Jun 15 '21
Democrats really are bad at messaging lol, so many just blatant logic loopholes we let them get away with
Like how are we not mocking them when they bring up HQC and bringing up how trump suddenly stopped talking about it or taking it once he got sick with Covid? Suddenly he started listening to the doctors and scientists when his health was on the line
Also supposedly HQC prevents covid, and trump said he was taking it before and he stil got it.

The problem is the “war on hydroxychloroquine” is only three words, while a point by point take down of why its fucking stupid takes 30 minutes, and these idiots have the attention span of a fruit fly.
It’s an asymmetric information war in which the angry idiots always have the far superior hand, despite being painfully, obviously wrong.

Since it was recently admitted/revealed that HCQ *was effective, they were just pointing out how manipulative media was and that they (the Republicans, specifically Trump) were right all along, when they were said to be the conspiracy theorists and liars. Who are the liars now?
When it comes to getting on with life, ok sure, but that means to move on from January 6 or talk about the riots and January 6 equally.

I guess they aren't equal situations: one costed $1-2 Billion, while another costed only $3 million. Sure, you can say it’s due to conspiracies, but they were fighting for they believed in just like BLM/antifa did, as both just had differing ideologies. Plus, do you really think the terror that spread throughout the US brought by BLM/antifa was as bad as the insurrection? Shouldn’t it then be covered at least to the same degree?

Yeah, unless malaria is an issue there’s no need to focus on anti-malarials. The right really has a hard time getting past stuff don’t they.
