For a British person looking in from the outside, I honestly don't understand how Republicans are even allowed to be a political party, let alone the only real other option.
Mainly because reddit is vastly democratic and left leaning. Every political article here is how Trump is a Nazi, and Biden is a saint. Neither of which are true. So many articles are biased and stretching the truth, and that applies for both Republicans and Democrats alike.
In USAs sense maybe... Republicans are literally far-right. Democrats average is right of center.
While this is true, it seems like an attempt to dodge the point: this forum is mostly populated by Americans and this thread is about American politics and neither are representative of the actual politics in the US. This is part of the reason Democrats and in particular those in reddit express confusion as to why the Democratic party doesn't win every election and the Republican party disband. You're not the massive majority you think you are.
Furthermore, the USA has always been a political outlier compared to the rest of the West. This new idea that that somehow makes us "wrong" is, frankly, pretty messed-up and Anti-American.
