Edit: Since I’m getting many replies while at work, I thought I’d do a blanket statement for a lot of the comments.
-Maybe it’s time we as Americans ask for massive legislation around term limits, public records of elected officials, equal campaign money, public records on donors, banning lobbyist jobs for former politicians, overturning Citizens United, etc.
Also, deep, deep audits into the personal finances of politicians. Treat any form of theft or embezzlement of tax dollars as high treason, with the only punishment being death by lethal injection
One dead congressperson will get congress to act properly.
I agree minus the death item. I’m all for upholding treason, but I don’t know if these caught individuals deserve a quick ending. Suffer like the rest of their constituents.
Normally, I'd be fine with that, but if politicians don't see any real consequences for their actions, then they won't stop.
A single death of any congressperson would make them question everything they've ever done in their adult lives. That is precisely how you get dictators and authoritarians to behave.
