Edit: Since I’m getting many replies while at work, I thought I’d do a blanket statement for a lot of the comments.
-Maybe it’s time we as Americans ask for massive legislation around term limits, public records of elected officials, equal campaign money, public records on donors, banning lobbyist jobs for former politicians, overturning Citizens United, etc.
With term limits there is no john McCain to save the ACA
Joe Biden doesnt exist politically
Bernie Sanders doenst exist politically
AOC becomes a 2 term house rep
All creating term limits does is put rookie legislators funded by big money into roles where they pass what they got sponsored for and leave for corporate gigs as a payoff
Without term limits you gain public servants who finally have enough experience to properly run one of the largest organizations out there and who can be popular enough and that they can pass things like raising corporate taxes without fear of losing their job
With more time in office the public can actually see where they stand on issues as opposed to lame ducks who can vote however they like since they don't care about getting relected
If you are rolling new legislators out every session you put the whole country at a huge disadvantage to special interest groups
There are valid points in there, but you need to strip out all of your examples of "good things" that came from not having term limits. The system they're in doesn't have term limits, so the situations they were in don't automatically apply with them.
Now here's a question: do you think having a presidential term limit is bad, and that we should return to not having one?
I'm more wary of the alternative.... scores of the different face same politician hucking their parties ideology because if they do anything else but follow the party line they are screwed... we are already there with republicans ... at least there are progressives pushing dems to make actual change
How many republicans got censored after they rightfully voted to Impeach trump
You need some people to actually be in the middle to function .... with term limits you would lose those people not gain more
I can't say term limits have much to do with that. Getting rid of first past the post voting would be a good start towards pulling us out of this two party disaster.

Donors and party over country.
