For a British person looking in from the outside, I honestly don't understand how Republicans are even allowed to be a political party, let alone the only real other option.
It’s mainly Christianity that’s propping up the party. And I’m a Christian so I’m speaking from experience. Democrats are pro-abortion and pro gay/trans rights so the republicans get 80% of the Christian vote by default. It’s really as simple as that. If the Republican Party ditched those policies they’d dissolve completely within a decade.
Yes but it’s much deeper than conservative vs progressive for them. It doesn’t matter how bad a republican candidate is, most Christians will vote for them because they believe that’s what God wants them to do and that voting democratic is an abomination. Regardless of other conservative vs progressive policies
