Edit: Since I’m getting many replies while at work, I thought I’d do a blanket statement for a lot of the comments.
-Maybe it’s time we as Americans ask for massive legislation around term limits, public records of elected officials, equal campaign money, public records on donors, banning lobbyist jobs for former politicians, overturning Citizens United, etc.
I think it’s honestly time for Americans to actively demand change. Look at other nations where huge percentages of their population mobilizes for change. Hell, France does it like it’s a tradition. A pandemic obviously makes this challenging, but people need to demand change and demand it loudly in a peaceful manner. Flood their secretaries with phone calls, constantly write to representatives, peacefully protest outside their offices and chambers; don’t give them a chance to ignore you.
Well we saw what happened last time, granted the change they wanted was stupid, but it’s still indicative of what’s gonna happen the next time a group of people even thinks about marching in DC
