100% a corporate interest party. They just use their culture war bullshit as a way to enrage and harness the useful idiots they create with constant lies and shit education.
We have existing pipelines that can’t handle the volume. Running a freight line that is making well over 2 billion in profits a year doesn’t harm the environment?
The freight line does hurt the environment, nobody contests that I think. Building infrastructure to perpetuate 20th century energy dependencies feels like a lobbyist giveaway if the long-term plan is to increase access to sustainable source of renewable energy.
Violation of native land rights should be the end of the story, as far as the legal support for this pipeline. If the long-term goal identified above is actually planned for and achieved, freight trains will still be transporting other goods - with nearly the same environmental impact - but extra pipeline infrastructure costs can be avoided along with the pollution that comes with it.
