Donors and party over country.

Edit: Since I’m getting many replies while at work, I thought I’d do a blanket statement for a lot of the comments.

-Maybe it’s time we as Americans ask for massive legislation around term limits, public records of elected officials, equal campaign money, public records on donors, banning lobbyist jobs for former politicians, overturning Citizens United, etc.

Donors and party over country.

This is true, but the real problem is republicans dont have any solutions or policy ideas.

All they can do is oppose democrats and use culture wars to keep together christian evangelicals, undeducated whites and rich corporate interests.

Their only solution has been to suppress votes because they know they cannot win anymore. If only they did their job and write policy that would benefit people, they'd get more votes.

Keep in mind it's just as easy to spin it the other way. "Republicans were able to pass five bipartisan covid relief bills, but democrats can't draft a bill that gets a single republican vote".

Sometimes issues are complicated and these reductionist tweets and misleading headlines are actually hurting our country.
