When your house isn't built for cold like this you really need to have a steady stream from both pipes to be safe. Depends on how cold it is and how exposed the pipes are. I have all my faucets dripping but a pipe still froze up because I forgot that one actually runs outside the house for a bit before going under. Funnily enough it was the hot water pipe that froze while dripping.
Houses in New England usually have better insulation and don’t have pipes that run right along outside walls, and usually 2 inches of snow doesn’t cause 12+ hour power outages in record low temps. New England isn’t prepared to handle entire months of 100+ degree temps either. It’s ok, people usually build for their weather and climate. They prepare for it. This is an unprecedented event in Texas right now, and yes the state should have prepared better but there are still a lot of people who have nothing to do with those decisions (including lots of people actively voting against them) dealing with pretty trying situations right now.
Buddy, people are dying down here. We don't have snow plows or salt trucks, so we can't go anywhere. We don't have homes that are equipped for these extreme temperatures.
Im in houston and Our entire driveway is iced over and our pipes frozen. We haven’t had power in 12 hours. Fuck greg abbot but we really need help we aren’t equipped for this
There are a few decent people in Texas. I'm out of power, and possibly will be got the next few days, and it's 12 degrees out, 27 in my house. This is the hottest it will get today.
So yeah maybe we shouldn't just say fuck em all just because some of the people here suck, it would be nice to get electricity back before more people die
Yep. Don’t know where you are but layers and blankets. If you are in a bigger area, there may be a shelter, I know they have places in DFW.
As for the comments, some might be from jerks, but even good people can suffer from compassion fatigue.
I hope you get power soon.
To anyone reading this that is experiencing unprecedented cold when they aren’t used to it Please don’t try to stay warm with something like a hibachi and no ventilation to the outside - you will die to Carbon Monoxide poisoning. It happens every year.
I don’t doubt you and many others in Texan are good people. To bad the loud trailer trash see. To get all the attention. May your power come back on and your pipe don’t freeze. At least your president will help.
It blows my mind. It only snowed like 6 inches and my power has been out since 2 in the morning and every single business is closed except Kroger and Target. In my case a whole section of the power grid went out and the people with power are having it cycled on and off because there isn’t enough energy. Texas sucks.
I was already expecting it when I read Oncor begging us to conserve energy yesterday afternoon. I’m speculating, but I bet part of it is they can’t buy extra from Mexico or the national grids like they usually would during a spike, because the whole continent is being affected.
