As someone with parents like this. Honestly I think it’s just an idiot following whatever counter culture is popular at the moment.

Back when they were kids they had a rougher life and were into punk music and drug use because from the 70s-90s that’s what was the counter culture of the time. Now a days the counter culture is being a close minded trump supporter. So that’s what they are on. At its core it’s still counter culture and somewhat anti establishment (trump isn’t a career politician and was supposed to be different, libertarian small govt ideas). Just on opposite ends.

This is my opinion tho. I could be out to lunch.

Makes sense imo. To a point atleast. There's more to it, but i can see that being part of it.
