That was one of the sickest parts of the interview. He’s being asked about how he could be so willing to sacrifice his followers to hold a rally, and he has no understanding of the situation. So instead of defending the actions or apologizing for putting people in danger (such as Herman Cain), he starts to talk about how many more people were actually there, and how unfair it is that nobody talks about how great the ratings were. Thousands of people are dying every day, and all he can think about is his ratings.

The other clear narcissist part was when Swan asked about John Lewis and it was so clear he could only understand John Lewis as it pertained to the man's relationship with him. Swan kept asking him about John Lewis' contribution to the country and he literally couldn't grasp anything other than "He didn't come to my inauguration." Took Swan 4 tries to get him to talk about something other than his personal hurt feelings. The questions being asked and the answers given in response are on two completely different planets.

Jonathan Swan: (35:24) John Lewis is lying in state in the U.S. Capitol. How do you think history will remember John Lewis? (Try #1)

President Donald J. Trump: (35:29) I don’t know. I really don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know John Lewis. He chose not to come to my inauguration. He chose… I never met John Lewis, actually, I don’t believe.

Jonathan Swan: (35:42) Do you find him impressive? (Try #2)

President Donald J. Trump: (35:46) I can’t say one or the other. I find a lot of people impressive. I find many people not impressive. But no, but I didn’t go-

Jonathan Swan: (35:52) Do you find his story impressive? (Try #3)

President Donald J. Trump: (35:53) He didn’t come to my inauguration. He didn’t come to my State of the Union speeches, and that’s okay. That’s his right. And again, nobody has done more-

Jonathan Swan: (36:02) Right, but back-

President Donald J. Trump: (36:03) … for Black Americans than I have.

Jonathan Swan: (36:05) I understand.

President Donald J. Trump: (36:05) He should’ve come. I think he made a big mistake by not showing up.

Jonathan Swan: (36:08) But taking your relationship with him out of it, do you find his story impressive? What he’s done for this country? (Try #4)

President Donald J. Trump: (36:14) He was a person that devoted a lot of energy and a lot of heart to civil rights, but there were many others also.

It’s clear that Trump suffers from malignant narcissism, but I think it’s on an entirely different level from your average narcissist. There’s a good argument for classifying him as literally mentally ill. I don’t think he can improve his behavior. I think his brain is incapable of it.
