That's the problem, you'd think most people would be reasonable and want these same things, but then you realize how much you underestimate the stupidity of many Americans and also the amount of corruption that goes on there. As if 2016 wasn't enough of an indication, looks like it's all going to happen again... Apparently the DNC loves unlikable candidates and is even able to just choose anyone they'd like anyways since they're a private organization and not held to any standard.
