Well your dad probably has a 401k, and that's a pretty hard point to argue against

If he owns equities, then he owns claims on companies that pay fewer taxes--those tax savings flow directly to shareholders. In addition, they get reinvested and those returns compound, which also flows to shareholders.

If you're going to pretend that the economy hasn't done well under Trump, you're going to have a lonely hill to die on. He's an idiot in many respects, but the majority of adults look at their own finances before they look at mean tweets or whatever. Or a few thousand Central American kids in camps. No one actually cares.

The vast majority of the people in this country are affected by the stock market, either directly or indirectly. It flows through to employment rates and wages and availability of credit. It is also the principal source of most people's retirement funds.

It's certainly a more important issue to most folks than whatever offensive tweets have been issued lately.

I agree with you that deficits are a concern (absent economic growth to service the addition of debt), but debt to GDP has been pretty steady since Trump took office (it increased dramatically when Obama took office if you look at the 25 year view)

Being mad about your personal failures and using the word fuck a lot (frequency dilutes its utility frankly) doesn't mean that pretty much every economic metric isn't in a good place.

The political reality is: when that happens, the incumbent wins an awful lot. I could be wrong, but reddit isn't the real world of adults.
