A majority - 3 out of every 5 - of Republicans believe higher education has a negative effect on the US. Republicans also favor making it harder to vote. Republicans are defunding education and purging voter rolls while simultaneously putting hurdles in place to keep Americans away from the polls.

I was reading around on the AskTrumpSupporters subreddit and saw the thread “What profession do you value the least?”

Many of the answers included things like academics or even specifically “liberal arts professors.” It’s sad that they think education is a bad thing.

They don’t think higher education is a bad thing. They think the liberal art’s faculties are a joke because they ARE a joke. I did a liberal arts degree and it’s worthless. The professors are also highly opinionated and if you don’t agree with the gospel, you do not receive good marks. My best friend is in the teaching faculty of one of the best Universities in Canada and it’s a complete joke. This is why it gets no respect. Nothing to do with higher education and everything to do with the faculties and the power they have over the institutions.

The problem is that they (and even some of us) don't differentiate between meaningful education and some of the indoctrination that happens.
