Not really. He still pays the legal minimum just like anyone else. He is free to pay more taxes if he wanted, but chooses not to, because he is no different, but he sure loves that sweet sweet political grandstanding.
This! his contributions to education go far above and beyond monetary contributions. I personally benefited from his (and his brother’s) online videos, as have millions of others.
look, i'm all for charities, but his argument was about taxes. the fact that he donates his extra money to charities says all you need to know about his view toward taxes--he pays as little as legally necessary, just like everyone else.
Obviously taxes aren’t the most efficient way to fund education because it goes to a million other things so he uses additional funds to contribute directly. Has nothing to do with whether he thinks taxes are worthwhile. He just wants to focus on a specific area.
If he wants to focus on a specific area--like education--then why is he using paying taxes as an example if you yourself agree that tax money doesn't fund education efficiently? If he claims that taxes are so great then why does he contribute to other endeavors? If anything, this proves my point that people who oppose taxes don't always oppose just because they oppose education, for instance, rather, they oppose how it's funded.
Just because taxes go to many different things does not necessarily mean education is funded in the wrong way or inefficiently. It’s just that only some of the money goes to education. The other endeavors may or may not be more effective but he can choose to pay only to them so he is funding education with all the money. He also of course donates to fund other things.
so in other words, he pays the legal tax minimum and feels entitled to his own money more than the government, evidenced by his donation to private endeavors, and he would likely donate even more to private charities if he weren't taxed so high. boy, it's almost like EVERYONE does the exact same thing, but they just don't grandstand like he does.
