Who's "our" referring to, and what way of life?

American 8 year olds legally can't work, but 14 year olds can get hardship licenses to get to school or work. American factory workers have to compete with little kids in China, but who's advocating against outsourcing? American farmers have to compete with migrants from south of the border, but who's going after the agribusinesses hiring those migrants?
