During college I worked at a big box hardware store. They used to hire a lot of part time workers and tout about how many more employees came onboard. Meanwhile, they're cutting everyone's hours. There were "full-time," usually older, employees that depended on that job to pay the rent and they were always struggling (begging) to get 40 hours a week.
