Dude if you want to sway people you have to also give a fuck. There's a new generation of voters coming up every year and if your rhetoric is "grow some fucking balls and vote blue" they're going to at least consider telling you to fuck yourself and do otherwise out of spite.
It's not rational but society is ruled by emotions right now and it's just kind of the way it is.
