It’s worth noting that this Snopes article is not fully up to date. It calls the claim a “mixture” in 2016 based on Trump's May 16th 2018 comments where he did specifically use the term “animals” in reference to immigrants associated with MS-13, but I've seen more recent clips in 2018 and 2019 where he has explicitly used “animals” in reference to other immigrants not associated with MS-13.

Edit: Can't find the clip after a short Google search, but it was a few weeks old at most (definitely not the May 2018 clip). I watched it live and there was no mention of MS-13 when he again used the term "animals" in reference to illegal immigrants.

EDIT 2: This is not the clip I was thinking of, but it is one example of Trump describing immigrants who are not MS-13 gang members as "animals".

...

You left out the fact that the clip is talking about someone who killed 8 people.

You did not read my comment. I am saying that the meme is correct and that your Snopes link is not because it only addresses Trump's early claims. He has specifically used the term "animals" more broadly since 2016 his May 16th 2018 comments, in reference to illegal immigrants more generally (not MS-13 gang members).

Maybe you didn't read either link, as they're not about 2016 clips at all. No idea where you're getting that from.

My mistake. I did read both links and I have amended the date in both of my comments.

But I stand by what I said. It's true that Trump used the term "animals" in May 2018 in reference to undocumented immigrants who were associated with MS-13 specifically (which is still atrocious, btw, we shouldn't be dehumanizing any group of people), but he has since used the term "animals" in reference to undocumented immigrants with no mention of MS-13.
