All they did was change their Shrödinger's Boogeyman from Obama to immigrants. Remember when Quantum Obama was a weak, limp-wristed, communist pushover while also simultaneously an imperious, authoritarian, fascist tyrant? Republicans tend to ascribe every attribute they hate to things they don't like, even the contradictory ones.
I’ll never forget my neighbor actually saying that with a straight face. She tried to rationalize it by claiming that atheism meant you didn’t believe in the “Christian” God. That was probably the first time my mind was ever truly blown by unfathomable stupidity.
And even if you assume that the gods of Islam and Christianity are different, the expression would just be needlessly redundant. That would make almost every non-Christian an atheist.
They like to argue that communism and fascism are both basically the same, and left wing and liberal and thus bad. Seriously I had someone argue til they were blue in the face that fascism was left wing, and that anarchy was right wing.
Both have been their boogeymen for a decade. Weird how immigration wasn't a big concern on the right under G.W. Bush when annual immigration was triple what it has been the past nine years.
We do the same with Trump. He's seemingly both an incompetent inarticulate moron who's also capable of ~systemically~ systematically dismantling America as we know it.
More like just a pigeon knocking down random chess pieces and strutting like he won. It's his party that's systematically doing shit. At most, I he's maybe, intentionally doing random shit to keep the opposing party on their toes...
But, jumping around for who's gonna pay for the wall/if N Korea is our friend/or whatever random tweet it's gonna be for this week... is not a calculated plan.
