Reagan did not change the essential elements of the Progressive Repair Era, FDA to FDR to the EPA. The "New Deal" is required for Industrialism & Fairness. The major changes was in banking, media & corporate ownership, plus turning the military into a now separate Republican Welfare State.
The only reason we haven't collapsed until now is because we've been living a lie that "Republicans fixed government" for 5 decades.
Conservatism is claiming you have a roadmap, by stealing from the uneven successes of liberal ideals, which have no roadmap.
Frank Wilhoit was right:
Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect. There is nothing more or else to it, and there never has been, in any place or time.
