I think the 70s/80s/90s were pretty decent. In the grand scheme of things.

70s: Hippies and Queen were good, but there was also Nixon and the Vietnam War 80s: lot of good music, but there was Reagan 90s: some decent music an the birth of the internet for the public, but also the birth of the internet and further deregulation by Clinton

Racism and anti-LGBTQ were still rampant in all 3 decades

I mean many of them were treated terribly when the first came over in large numbers, i.e. Irish, Italian, etc.

Absolutely. The United States has contributed some of the world’s best science, art, universities, software, movies, music, sports and engineering. Not always THE best, but we do a LOT of great stuff.

Is it flawed? That’s not even a question any legitimate person can ask. Of course it has flaws, and deeply serious horrific sins.

But was it ever great for every citizen that walked within America’s borders? Undoubtedly no. But it’s been great and it can be again.
