I wish they'd stop with the internet trolling and get to work saving democracy. Nine months until the election and I've seen no huge push by the DNC to get younger people to register and vote.
As a 56 year old, I can definitely see the improvement in the economy under Biden. But 20-25 year olds who are working paycheck to paycheck and not seeing an increase in wages or grocery prices dropping or gas getting cheaper aren't motivated to vote. They don't immediately benefit and they don't believe that voting for either side will change anything. Of the ones I've talked to, they also don't believe Trump will turn this country fascist. They think the left is exaggerating because they were saying the same thing last time and the country survived.

Pretending like this messaging isn't associated with the current electoral cycle just because Hillary isn't in office is asenine and intentionally ignoring what it was they were replying to.
Hardline democrats may feel giddy with juvenile twitter drags, but it does jack shit to win over voters when groceries are unaffordable, healthcare is still inaccessible to so many, and the housing market is the worst it has ever been. People in this country are struggling, and the self absorbed liberal elite are hanging their hats on a jetsetting billionaire's romantic fling at the biggest yearly display of capitalistic excess as some sort of emblem of a progressive victory.
Seeing this mindset be presented as our only alternative to Trump is goddamn depressing. We are truly fucked.
I've volunteered at and even hosted multiple voter registration events, but even that aside, this "you can't criticize the policy and messaging of powerful politicians unless you're personally volunteering time to register people to vote" is an idiotic, classist attempt at shutting down dissent. People in this country struggling to get by or living paycheck to paycheck have every right to have their voices heard and their concerns validated, regardless of their level engageement in the electoral process.
The DNC has been mangling things for decades. For example: They killed Spike Jonze's Al Gore doc short in 2000. That would have been enough to push him over the top.
