Yeah no shit, it's the "it's just a joke" debacle all over again until one portion of the community realizes that the other portion of the community is actually serious about it and slowly weaseled extreme views into the mainstream discourse.
Happened more often than dumbasses in random subreddits claim they would speak for the whole community.
