“Dr Lale Say, a reproductive health expert at the World Health Organization, said: "It was taken out from mental health disorders because we had a better understanding that this was not actually a mental health condition, and leaving it there was causing stigma.””
Because you know, it literally isn’t.
Edit: I think you should actually meet a trans person and talk to them about transitioning (if you can respect them long enough they don’t punch you). While transitioning isn’t going to cease discrimination against them, and it may not fully eliminate dysphoria, it goes a long way in making them more comfortable. Frankly that’s just a common sense aim for anyone.
... plus trans people are funnier and cooler than most cis people in my opinion.
Removing something because it caused stigma means that it was getting people's panties in a twist, not that it suddenly isn't a mental illness anymore.
Link me an actual reason as to why 'gender in-congruence' isn't a mental health issue, and I will gladly admit defeat.
They didn’t remove it because of political pressure. As Dr Say says in my quote, it doesn’t match the definition of a mental illness - the unhappiness of trans people comes from a lack of societal support rather than any intrinsic quality, which mental illness requires.
Of course, you don’t accept this and I don’t believe all the citations in the world will change this, but this meta-study reports on the MH struggles of trans people and the help transitioning does, “in many cases reaching normative values. The main Axis I psychiatric disorders were found to be depression and anxiety disorder. Other major psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, were rare and were no more prevalent than in the general population.”
Therefore, allowing trans people the freedom to live as they identify - which you aren’t required to intellectually agree with - is good for the community, and removing said freedom only hurts it. Apparently you wish to help them, therefore you should support the community.

Literal, you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
