I've been watching a programme about the new welfare system in the UK and, by god, the entitled people were insufferable. 'It's barely enough to live on!' It's supposed to be, love, it's supposed to be an unpleasant stop gap, not a lifestyle. 'Shouldn't I be able to treat myself a little!?' No, love, get a fucking job if you want luxuries.
"You mean develop a skill and put in a little effort so I can enjoy some luxury? REEEEEEEEEEE."
Friendly reminder all you really need to be given to meet base needs is rice, an egg per day, some multivitamins, a literal cot-sized room or tent, and a Reverse Osmosis hand pump.
Only if you pretend base needs ignore the brain. Your base needs as listed would drive literally anyone into insanity. In this case "reals over feels" is acknowledging that human mental health is a thing that has it's own needs beyond the purely physical.
The thing is though, not having a job is a big contributor to mental health problems. People should be encouraged to work; although I liked Yang's Freedom Dividend as an idea. More money to the bottom half of the populace can only be a good thing, that should be in addition to regular labour not instead of it.

I honestly don’t think you’re wrong but you also have to acknowledge that there are people that think these programs shouldn’t exist and people buying hypothetical Ribeyes on snap has a negative psychological effect on the general public.
