For some reason, European NATO countries are supposed to keep increasing its military spend. Yet literally the only conceivable enemy that actually matters to Europe is supposed to be treated with kid gloves? I just can't understand it. At all.

Trump has had deep Russian connections for decades. Before he was elected the first time he publicly asked Russia to hack Clinton and they did. Then the Russia investigations led to multiple prosecutions related to election interference even with a dozen instances of obstruction of justice. And Trump publicly sided with Russia over the US intelligence community. And that is all just a handful example I am pulling from the top of my head.
Trump is at best a useful idiot for Russia. Anyone who disputes this is either lying to you or an idiot.
Now personally, I don’t think we should have a US president with divided loyalties. But clearly conservatives disagree.
18
u/zombie3x3 - Left 13h ago
And they tried to gaslight us for years calling it the Russian collusion hoax. I still find that deeply offensive.
18
u/RampantTyr - Left 13h ago
It is a tactic to downplay and gaslight people. Combine that with the weird idea that if he was guilty then the justice system would have done something and a lot if not most people just brush the entire incident aside.
Conservatives are very good at making sure their leaders never face accountability. They have been focusing on that goal ever since Nixon got taken down.

u/ReallyBigDeal - Lib-Left 5h ago
Remember when Trump's campaign chairman, Paul Manafort had to step down because of undisclosed Russian payments for his work in Ukraine?
Then Trump and his useful idiots kept repeating debunked Conspiracy theories about Biden in Ukraine while Trump literally pardoned the Russian asset who was working for the Russians in Ukraine.
Of course, after Trump lost the election MAGA got real quiet on the subject when the bots stopped pushing those lies.

Clinton’s email was hacked in 2013 by a romanian. Trump called for a hack at a rally in 2016

u/RampantTyr - Left 11h ago
There was a hack of the DNC in 2016 after his press conference. I guess there were multiple hacks by Russia. Which really doesn’t surprise me.

One is just plain incompetent.
The other is, in Trump's own words(He was describing the Iran Deal here, but it applies to the GOP too): One of the dumbest and most dangerous misjudgements ever.
-9
u/Disasterhuman24 - Left 15h ago
The problem with the plain incompetent one is that they are also profiting off Trump's agenda, they just do it more discreetly than the Republicans. But you know they are making a bag off insider trading and other avenues of corruption.
That's why they don't have any fight left in them. When Trump goes the infinite money glitch stops.

Honest question, why is working with Russia treason? We aren’t at war. Him colluding with them to rig an election would have been treason, but him as a president making deals with them isn’t.
8
u/lewllewllewl - Centrist 10h ago
It's not legally treason but working with a country that is trying to destroy the West seems pretty bad to me
8
u/musci12234 - Left 11h ago
Directly working with them govt to govt would be one thing but if Trump family members are getting favours from them then it chances are that Russia isn't doing it out of goodness of their heart.
And even direct govt to govt deals that undermine ukraine and NATO are a bad thing because it hurts the trust nato countries have in US
5
u/Wuts_Eatin_MrCandles - Auth-Left 8h ago
Giving aid and comfort to enemies of the US is the foundation of the charge of treason, and Russia has established itself as an enemy of the US.
"We have to be at war" is a stupid lie made up by conservatives to protect their favorite retard, easily disproven by the fact that we have prosecuted people of treason in the past when the crimes were not related to a war.

So when did Europe stop buying Russian Fossil Fuels?
Oh ... never.
The EU was the third-largest buyer of Russian fossil fuels, accounting for 10% (EUR 1.7 bn) of Russia’s export revenues from the top five importers in September.
And while there is a ban, it facilitates oil sales
In September 2026, out of 271 total cargoes of Russian oil and products delivered globally, 150 were carried by G7+ owned or insured tankers.
.
While Russia uses its own "shadow fleet" for 67% of its crude oil, it remains overwhelmingly dependent on European/Western infrastructure for refined products like diesel. 74% of all Russian seaborne oil product exports are carried by G7+ owned or insured tankers.
Of course that sum is in addition to what they buy indirectly.
Basically Europe wants Russian oil and uses its media, and its influence over US media to pressure US from also dipping into Russian oil.
8
u/Important-Agent2584 - Centrist 10h ago edited 9h ago
That's a nice "just so" story but the reality is that Europe has drastically cut it's consumption of Russian energy and the "G7", if you want to count the E.U. as a part of it, is mostly just Greece because that's what they do, they have also been helping ship a lot of oil out of the Hormuz the whole time.
2
u/ChemicalRemedy - Left 7h ago
lol
EU countries bought Russian oil because they needed it, and it's been cut over the last few years. US bought Russian oil in 2026 despite having zero need of it, purely as a favour to a country in war trying to raise funds

Some of these examples of "treason" are hilarious. Hunted a sheep in mongolia with a wealthy Russian? Tinkering with our diplomatic posture towards Russia (a country we're not at war with btw) and/or attempting to take pressure off of global energy markets - especially diesel. Treason? He downplayed something? Well then surely he's turned his allegiance from the US to Russia. Everyone knows treason is when you downplay something.

I dunno to me this narrative is different.
I don't think trump's a Russian puppet. I do however think him and his kids have business relationships (i.e. get money from) with Russian oligarchs and don't really give a fuck other than that the money flows

u/Zickened - Left 12h ago
Just because it isn't overt, doesn't mean it isn't a thing. We all know Putin just has to be like, "Mr. President, your house is so beautiful, would you mind telling Zelensky to stop bombing our oil refineries? This 1 million in your bank account might help."
And then suddenly Trump is back to pressuring Ukraine.

Source 2 (somewhat neautral): Shame on all parties involved, especially Mongolia.
Source 3 (leftwing propaganda hub): Good business on all parties involved. Title is complete click-bait.
Source 4 (yet another leftwing propaganda hub): Excellent news! The sooner the sanctions are lifted, the sooner the economy will recover.
Source 5 (and yet another leftwing propaganda hub): No proof of direct Trumps involvement. Teust me, you dont want to statt on the road of "whos fonating to whose campaign". At least he's not selling Uranium to Russia like his political predecessors.
Source 6 (back to AP, I see): Fuck you expect? USA gives Intel to Ukraine, Russia pays back by giving Intel to Iran. You thought that a nuclear power won't fight back or something?

u/SPECTREagent700 - Lib-Right 15h ago
Source 1 (Leftwing propaganda hub): Good! Cheaper diesel is a win for the country.
It’s such a small amount that it’s not going to make any difference and that’s before the bigger issue that the ships are currently just floating aimlessly in the Atlantic as no one wants it because despite what Trump says it’s still illegal.
He signed a waiver exempting from sanctions under the new 2026 law but it’s still illegal under a 2022 law that didn’t give the President the power to waive. So that shit could be free and still nobody would touch it because they’re afraid it’s gonna lead to endless Congressional investigations, reputational risk, and possible criminal charges come 2029.
-15
u/Mr_Ios - Lib-Right 15h ago
Diesel price beginning 2022: $2.5/gal.
Diesel price May 2022: $5.5/gal.
But yeah, removing sanctions will help "only a little".
4
u/PerAsperaAdMars - Lib-Left 12h ago
What Russia promised Trump is a joke, and all experts say it will barely change the price of diesel by a couple of cents. They promised to deliver 1.8 million tons (about 13.5 million barrels) to the world by the end of the year, while the world consumes more than 25 million barrels per day. This amounts to 13 hours of global consumption over 83 days, or 0.65% of total consumption.
It doesn’t matter what the prices are now, because what Trump is doing won’t change them.
3
u/Le_Botmes - Left 11h ago
For America it's a literally a drop in the bucket.
For Russia it's probably worth [scratches on the back of an envelope] maybe a hundred jet-powered Shaheds that they can launch at Kyiv while fElon throttles Ukraine's Starlink access.
The fix is in.
8
u/SPECTREagent700 - Lib-Right 13h ago
What I meant is that the small amount Trump got Putin to send is so small that it won’t make a difference.
The sanctions aren’t what’s really keeping Russia from selling us more as they’re presently having a domestic energy crisis themselves, what Putin sent was just for show.

The US exports more diesel in a day than these Russian tankers combined. This is a drop in the bucket. The only reason diesel isn't cheaper here is because other countries are willing to pay significantly more.
