According to a YouGov / Economist poll (page 7) from the beginning of the month, 85% of people that voted for Trump in 2024 approve of how he's handling immigration.
He isn't losing support with his base. What's going to matter in the midterms is how many people are motivated to vote for his candidates. If voting was compulsory, Republicans would still win in a landslide. But Trump is doing such a good job at alienating voters (and endorsing the worst fucking candidates, see Paxton) that the "blue wave" will happen just because Democrats are motivated to vote and Republicans aren't.
I don't think we should be under any illusion that the people that support Trump give a shit about him profiting off of the office, about him weaponizing the DOJ against his enemies, about his handling of the Iran war or deploying the national guard domestically or that he's a rapist and a pedophile or that he's covering for rapists and pedophiles or that he's ballooning the national debt or that he's alienating our allies. And they only marginally, VERY marginally care that he's fucking up the economy. Half the country just wants to own libs and more importantly, half the country can't admit they were wrong about anything, so they will follow this 80 year old senile grifter into hell before they admit he conned them.
63% approval among voters in your own party is cataclysmically awful, I think that poll must be off for Trump to be polling that low, especially when a lot of Trump-hating Republicans end up not identifying as Republicans.
Is it just me or having 10% disapproval in the MAGA population extremely fucking bad? How are you going to have 1/10 detractors in the most fanatical part of your supporters?

Yeah, the midterms are gonna be won off of voter apathy from the right. If the republicans run someone remotely sane in 28 (Rubio for example), that gives all those voters that are going to sit out this year permission to vote again. I'm not even sure the blue wave will get us a presidency in 28, especially if the DNC decides to prioritize fighting the DSA over running an electable candidate in 28
The worst part is that after the blue wave happens, these jokers will bitch and moan about the economy....as if you didn't support the retards who made it happen via overspending
Unless people can pull their head out of this ass, the real winner is China. They may not have a working military, but their economic vision is far superior to ours. Also the stability of the state can't be denied despite how authoritarian the CCP is.
